KVPY 2019: Aptitude Test On November 3

The aptitude test for selection to the Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana (KVPY) will be held on November 3.

The test will be conducted in both Hindi and English at different centres nationwide. Students currently enrolled in class 11 and class 12 in science subjects and have secured atleast 75% in the class 10th exam in science and mathematics subjects are eligible to take the exam.

The KVPY fellowship aims at boosting research and scientific fervor among students.

KVPY 2019: Syllabus

There is no prescribed syllabus for the aptitude test. The aptitude test aims to test the understanding and analytical ability of the student than his/her factual knowledge.

However, students are tested for the syllabus up to class X/XII/1st year of B.Sc./B.S./B.Stat./B.Math./Int. M.Sc./M.S. as applicable.

KVPY Exam 2019: Exam Syllabus, Dates & Eligibility Criteria

KVPY 2019 Aptitude Test is going to held for the grant of Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana Fellowship. It is an online examination, which is conducted by IISc, Bangalore. The purpose of the fellowship program is to encourage students towards research in science field.

The KVPY exam is schedule to be held on Nov 03, 2019. Candidates studying in 11, 12, or 1st-year graduation course are able to apply under SA, SX, or SB stream, but only if they fulfilled the eligibility criteria.

KVPY 2019: Fellowship Offered

KVPY Fellowship will be awarded only if a student opts to study any of the following undergraduate courses in basic sciences.

  • B.Sc.
  • B.S.
  • B.Stat.
  • B.Math.
  • Int. M.Sc.
  • Int. M.S.

KVPY 2019: Eligibility Criteria

There are three streams to appear in KVPY 2019, namely SA, SX, SB. Students can apply for fellowship aptitude test depending upon class / year in which student is studying in 2019-20 academic session. What they are (SA / SX / SB) and who are eligible for them, are described below. Check KVPY 2019 eligibility criteria before applying.

KVPY SA

Students enrolled in XI Standard (Science Subjects) during the academic year 2019-20 and having secured a minimum of 75% (65% for SC/ST/PWD) marks in aggregate in MATHEMATICS and SCIENCE subjects in the X Standard Board examination immediately in the preceding academic year are eligible to appear for Aptitude test.

The fellowship of the students selected under this stream will be activated only if they join an undergraduate course in Basic Sciences (B.Sc./B.S./B.Stat./B.Math./Int. M.Sc./Int. M.S.) in the academic year 2021-22 after having secured a minimum of 60% (50% for SC/ST/PWD) marks in aggregate in Science subjects in the XII standard/(+2) Board Examination. During the interim period of one year they will be invited for the National Science (Vijyoshi) Camp and their travel expenses and local hospitality will be met by KVPY.

KVPY SX

Students enrolled in XII Standard/ (+2) (Science subjects) during the academic year 2019–20 and aspiring to join undergraduate program in Basic Sciences namely Physics/Chemistry/Mathematics & Biology leading to B.Sc./B.S./B.Stat./B.Math./Int. M.Sc./Int. M.S. for the session 2020–21 provided they have secured a minimum of 75% (65% for SC/ST/PWD) marks in aggregate in MATHEMATICS and SCIENCE subjects (Physics/Chemistry/ Biology) in the X Standard Board Examination during the academic year 2017-18 are eligible to appear for the Aptitude test.

The fellowship of the students selected under this stream will be activated only if they join an undergraduate course in Basic science (B.Sc./B.S./B.Stat./B.Math./Int. M.Sc./Int. M.S.) in the academic year 2020-21 after having secured a minimum of 60% (50% for SC/ST/PWD) marks in aggregate in MATHEMATICS and SCIENCE subjects (Physics/Chemistry/Biology) in the XII standard Board Examination during academic year 2019-20.

Students in their 2nd year of study in Cambridge International Examination Board and aspiring to join an UG program (viz. B.Sc./B.S./B.Stat./B.Math./Int. M.Sc./Int. M.S.)in Basic Sciences namely Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and Biology in the Academic year 2019-20 are eligible to apply provided they have secured a minimum of 75% (65% for SC/ST/PWD) marks in aggregate in MATHEMATICS and SCIENCE subjects (Physics/Chemistry/Biology) in the X Standard Board Examination. They must secure 60% (50% for SC/ST/PWD) marks in aggregate in MATHEMATICS and SCIENCE subjects (Physics/Chemistry/Biology) in the XII standard Board Examination before taking up the fellowship, if awarded.

KVPY SB

Students enrolled in the 1st year of undergraduate program in Basic Sciences namely Physics/Chemistry/Mathematics & Biology leading to B.Sc./B.S./B.Stat./B.Math./Int. M.Sc./Int. M.S. during the academic year 2019–20 and having secured a minimum of 60% (50% for SC/ST/PWD) marks in aggregate in MATHEMATICS and SCIENCE subjects (Physics/Chemistry/Biology) in the XII Standard Board Examination immediately in the preceding academic year, are eligible to appear for the Aptitude test. In the 1st year final examination of B.Sc./B.S./B.Math./B.Stat./Int. M.Sc./Int. M.S. they must secure 60% (50% for SC/ST/PWD) marks before taking up the fellowship, if awarded.

Note:Students enrolled in an undergraduate course in Basic Sciences, that is, B.Sc./B.S./B.Stat./B.Math./Int. M.Sc./Int. M.S. in Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, Statistics, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Cell Biology, Ecology, Molecular Biology, Botany, Zoology, Physiology, Biotechnology, Neurosciences, Bioinformatics, Marine Biology, Geology, Human Biology, Genetics, Biomedical Sciences, Applied Physics, Geophysics, Materials Science or Environmental Science are eligible for KVPY fellowship.

Marking scheme is +1, -0.25, and +2, -0.5. Usually it is +1, -0.25 for Part 1 and +2, -0.5 for Part 2; however one must read instructions before test starts.

The question paper contains multiple choice questions. Each question is followed by 4 responses in serial A, B, C, D. You have to choose the correct response and click your response.

Total test duration is 3 hours.

The examination for KVPY will be organised by the Indian Institute Of Science (IISc), Bangalore.

The KVPY is a national level scholarship programme up to pre-Ph.D level. The candidates will be selected through an aptitude test and an interview. The exam for the scholarship will be conducted on November 3, as per the official schedule and the admit card for the same will be available from the third week of October 2019.

Selection of the students is made from those studying in Class 11 to first-year of any undergraduate Program in Basic Sciences having an aptitude for scientific research.

KVPY Eligibility Criteria 2019 - Stream SA

  • Candidate must be an Indian citizen.

  • This stream is for those candidates who enrolled in the a11th class in the current year with science stream.

  • For General/OBC category minimum 75 % and for SC/ST/PWD 65% marks are required in mathematics and science subject in 10th class.

  • Candidates who have selected under this stream gets activated only when they join an undergraduate course in Basic Sciences (B.Sc./B.S./B.Stat./B.Math./Int. M.Sc./M.S.) after passing 12th (within 2 years of passing 10th).

KVPY Eligibility Criteria 2019- Stream SB/SX

Eligibility Criteria is a very important part of every programme and exam. The Admission Authority will release eligibility criteria notification along with application form on 2nd Sunday of July 2019. Those candidates who are pursuing or intending to pursue/pursuing undergraduate program under Distance Education scheme/course of any university are not eligible to apply for Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana 2019 programme. Here are a few points related to eligibility criteria :

  •  an Indian citizen. 

  • Students enrolled in 12th class: Student must have secured at least 60% marks in subjects like mathematics and science if belonging to General category, and if students belong from SC/ST/PWD category then 50% marks are required.

  • Students enrolled in the 1st year of the undergraduate program: Candidate must have secured at least 60% marks in subjects like mathematics and science if belonging to General category, and if aspirants belong from SC/ST/PWD category then 50% marks are required.

  • In the 1st year final examination of B.Sc./B.S./B.Math./B.Stat./Int. M.Sc./Int. M.S. they must secure 60% (50% for SC/ST/PWD) marks before taking up the fellowship if awarded.

The application fees for the general candidates is Rs 1000 and for reserved category candidates the same Rs 500.

KVPY Syllabus 2019 

For the KVPY aptitude test, there is no specific syllabus. The aptitude test aims to test the understanding and analytical ability of the candidate than his/her factual knowledge. The syllabus is included class 10th to the class 12th syllabus. The paper will have questions from Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, and Biology.
