Odisha government has made year-end exams mandatory for Classes 5 and 8. Students who fail will be given remedial classes and a re-exam. If they fail again, they’ll be held back. As per revised education rules, no child will be expelled before completing primary education. The decision aligns with the 2019 amendment to the national education law.
