Database Management System ( DBMS) is to create, store and manage databases.
- Tables- To create data tables with field names, data types with field names, data types and properties.
- Queries- The object class is to create the query statement.
- Forms- Helps to create an appropriate user interface.
- Reports- Various reports are created which are based on tables and queries.
- Pages- It is to create database pages.
- Macros- It is a list of actions that run as a unit.

Steps for creating database-
- Open access account window to choose blank access database and click ok button.
- Access responds by displaying the file and the new database dialog box.
- To enter the file name and location for the database.
- Choose the file menu bar and click new to open the new task panel to open the new task panel to create a new database.
Properties of the column of a table-
- Field name- name of the table and column.
- Data Types
- Text- Includes characters, words and numbers. It’s length is about 25 characters.
- Memo- Storing of documents
- Number- To store numbers which could be integers too.
- Date/Time- Used to store dates and time.
- Currency- Storing numbers in terms of rupees or dollars.
- Auto-Number- It is an automatic number which is being entered.
- Yes/ No- Logical field that is yes or no, on or off, true or false.
- Ole object- Object linking and embedding. It comprises photograph, bar, code, image.
- Hyperlink- Universal Resource Locator ( URL).
- Properties- In this it is defined about the properties of each column.
In conclusion the chapter is all about the computerised data keeping system, how to enter the data, its steps and all. This is very useful for accounting as one does need to enter every single transaction manually. It would be very helpful if we link all the accounts and let the computer do the entering for us.
