Medical and CSD Facilities

You will be entitled to medical facilities at the service hospitals and CSD provisions during your engagement period in the IAF.

Life Insurance Cover

A non-contributory life insurance cover of INR 48 lakhs will also be provided during the engagement period as Agniveervayu in IAF. You will not be eligible for the schemes and benefits under the Air Force Group Insurance Fund (AFGIS). 

Compensation for Death

The provisions of the Pension Regulations/Rules for IAF (as revised from time to time) will not apply to Agniveervayu. The following will be admissible to Next of Kin (NOK) from the Agniveer Corpus Fund in the event of death: 

  • Insurance cover as applicable.
  • All other compensation as per the details mentioned below
    • The death for the purpose of providing financial benefits to Agniveervayu will be categorised as follows:
      • Category X: Natural causes of death that are neither caused by nor rendered severe by military service during the time of engagement.
      • Category Y: Causes of death that are recognised as being related to or affected by military duty or as a result of mishaps or accidents while performing duties, including training during the engagement time.
      • Category Z: Deaths from terrorist attacks; antisocial elements; enemy attacks during border skirmishes; war; peacekeeping missions; civil power assistance, etc.; operational training and preparation for war, including training and exercises for battle inoculation; and unintentional deaths from natural disasters or government-specific operations, etc.

Compensation for Disability

The authorities will determine the amount of compensation depending on the percentage of disability and attributability if a person is placed in a Permanent Low Medical Category (LMC). In order to calculate disability compensation, the degree of disability or functional incapacity must be ascertained in the following way:

  • The sum of the government contribution, including interest from the Agniveervayu Corpus Fund, and the individual's Seva Nidhi fund as of the present time.

Death during engagement period not on duty (Category ‘X’)

  • Public Fund insurance coverage of INR 48 lakhs.
  • Balance accumulated (as of date) in the government contribution, which includes interest from the Agniveervayu Corpus Fund, and the individual's Seva Nidhi fund.

Disability (attributed/aggravated due to conditions of engagement)

  • One-time ex gratia of INR 44/25/15 lakhs from the public fund, based on the percentage of disability (100/75/50).
  • Full compensation, including the Seva Nidhi component (from public funds), for the four years from the date of incapacity.
  • Balance in the person's Seva Nidhi fund as of right now, including interest and government contributions from the Agniveervayu Corpus Fund.
