    How is Sulekha related to Nandini ?

    Statements :

    I. Sulekha's husband is the only son of Nandini's mother.

    II. Sulekha's brother and Nandini's husband are cousins.

    Solution

    From I, we conclude that Sulekha is the wife of Nandini's mother's only son i.e. Nandini's brother. Thus, Sulekha is Nandini's sister-in-law.

    From II, we conclude that Sulekha is the cousin of Nandini's husband, which implies that Sulekha is Nandini's sister-in-law.

  • Question 3
    1 / -0

    Choose the missing term out of the given alternatives.

    bed / f ? h / j ? l

    Solution

    The series may be divided into groups as shown:

    bed / f ? h / j ? l

    Clearly, in the first group, the second and third letters are respectively three and two steps ahead from the first letter.

    A similar pattern would follow in the second and third groups.

    ∴The required series is bed / fih / jml.

    Thus, the missing term is i, m.

  • Question 4
    1 / -0

    Direction: In each of the questions below consists of a question and two statements numbered I and II given below it. You have to decide whether the data provided in the statements are sufficient to answer the question. Read both the statements and give answer.

    How many pages of book X did Robert read on Sunday ?

    Statements :

    I. The book has 300 pages out of which two-thirds were read by him before Sunday.

    II. Robert read the last 40 pages of the book on the morning of Monday.

    Solution

    From I and II, we find that Robert read (300 × 2/3) i.e., 200 pages before Sunday and the last 40 pages on Monday.

    This means that he read [300 - (200 + 40)] i.e., 60 pages on Sunday.

  • Question 5
    1 / -0

    A is the father of B; C is the daughter of B; D is brother of B; E is the son of A. What is the relationship between C and E?

    Solution

    From the given information,

    Noor is a grandson of Paksh who is married to Tanmay.

    Awantika is the mother of Pratishtha who is married to Rajan.

    Tanmay is the father of Rajan but Rajan is not a daughter of Paksh.

    According to the question, A is the father of B and C is the daughter of B.

    E is the son of A.

    Therefore, C is the niece of E.

  • Question 6

    Direction: Study the following information carefully and answer the question given below.

    In a certain code language:

    "Turn About Phone Fine" is written as "15$V 14$O 18%M 15%G"

    "Suspicious Story Take Fully" is written as "12%B 11$V 15%B 19%H"

    "House Over Wealth Rule" is written as "5$I 21%V 12$V 1$S".

    Which word does the code "15$V" denote?

    Solution

    Code for "Phone"

    15 → Place value of the 3rd letter of the word

    $ → Symbol denotes the number of vowels. If even → $, if odd → %

    V → Opposite letter of the last letter.

  • Question 7
    1 / -0

    Find the two-hundredth term, a200 of the sequence: 2, 5, 8, 11, ___.

    Solution

    Given sequence:

    2, 5, 8, 11, ___

    Here,

    a = 2

    d = 3

    We know that the nth term of any arithmetic sequence is given by,

    an = a + (n – 1)d

    a200 = 2 + (200 – 1) × 3 = 599

  • Question 8
    1 / -0

    In a row of forty students, A is fifth from the right end and there are ten students between A and B. What is B’s position from the left end of the row?

    Solution

    Given:

    • A row of forty students.
    • A is fifth from the right end.
    • Ten students between A and B.

    The question does make it clear that A is on the right side as there are 4 people to his right and 10 people between A and B.

    So, there are 15 people to the right B.

    So, if x is the rank of B from left

    40 = x + 5 + 10

    x= 25

    So, there are 24 people to B's left. i.e B is 25th from the left.

  • Question 9
    1 / -0

    Find out the two signs to be interchanged to make the following equation correct.

    25 + 5 × 7 – 12 ÷ 3 = 26

    Solution

    Interchanging the signs and using BODMAS rule,

    Option (A) → + and ÷

    The original equation is,

    25 + 5 × 7 – 12 ÷ 3 = 26

    Interchanging the signs,

    25 ÷ 5 × 7 – 12 + 3 = 26

    Using BODMAS rule,

    5 × 7 – 12 + 3 = 26

    35 – 12 + 3 = 26

    38 – 12 = 26

    26 = 26

    Option (B) → + and ×

    The original equation is,

    25 + 5 × 7 – 12 ÷ 3 = 26

    Interchanging the signs,

    25 × 5 + 7 – 12 ÷ 3 = 26

    Using BODMAS rule,

    25 × 5 + 7 – 4 = 26

    125 + 7 – 4 = 26

    132 - 4 = 26

    126 ≠ 26

    126 is not equal to 26

    Option (C) → – and ÷

    The original equation is,

    25 + 5 × 7 – 12 ÷ 3 = 26

    Interchanging the signs,

    25 + 5 × 7 ÷ 12 – 3 = 26

    Using BODMAS rule,

    Option (D) → + and –

    The original equation is,

    25 + 5 × 7 – 12 ÷ 3 = 26

    Interchanging the signs,

    25 – 5 × 7 + 12 ÷ 3 = 26

    Using BODMAS rule,

    25 – 5 × 7 + 4 = 26

    25 – 35 + 4 = 26

    29 - 35 = 26

    -6 ≠ 26

    -6 is not equal to 26
