If the ratio of average no. of units generated per month between plant B and D is 2 : 7, find the profit percentage in plant D. [Given, manufacturing cost per unit is Rs. 35 in plant D]

    Solution

    From the table,

Given, the ratio of average no. of units generated per month between plant B and D is 2 : 7. The average no. of units generation per month in plant B = 50

So, the average no. of units generation per month in plant D = 50 × (7/2) = 175

Generation duration in plant D = 4 months

    Then, the total no. of units generated in plant D = 175 × 4 = 700

The manufacturing cost per unit is Rs. 35 in plant D. So, the total manufacturing cost of products in plant D = Rs. 700 × 35 = Rs. 24,500

The total selling price of products in plant D = Rs. 25,235

    So, profit = Rs. (25,235 – 24,500) = Rs. 735

If the manufacturing cost per unit product in plant B is Rs. 55, what is the total selling price of products in plant B?

    Solution

    From the table,

The manufacturing cost per unit product in plant B is Rs. 55. Generation duration of plant B = 10 months

Average no. of units generation per month in plant B = 50

    Total no. of units generation of plant B = 50 × 10 = 500

    Total manufacturing cost in plant B = Rs. 500 × 55 = Rs. 27,500

    Profit percentage = 10

Hence, the total selling price of products in plant B = Rs. 27,500 × (110/100) = Rs. 30250

Consider 3 consecutive prime integers. Twice the first integer is 5 more than the third integer and second is 4 less than the third integer. Sum of the integers is 41. Find the smallest integer among the three.

    Solution

Let first, second and third integer be a, b and c respectively.

    2a = c + 5 ⇒ a = (c + 5)/2

    b + 4 = c ⇒ b = c – 4

     a + b + c = 41

    Solving the above equation, a + b + c = 41

    ⇒ (c + 5)/2 + (c – 4) + c = 41 ⇒ c = 17

    ⇒ a = (17 + 5)/2 = 11

    ⇒ b = 17 – 4 = 13

∴ Smallest integer among the three is 11.
