The process of accumulating higher and higher amounts of a toxic material such as PCBs within the body of any animal is called
    Solution
The process of accumulation of chemicals in the living cells in increasing concentration is known as bioaccumulation. When there is excessive use of the pesticides such as Polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) against the harmful pests, they are accumulated in the food products. When these products are consumed, the chemicals deposit in the fatty tissues of the host. This phenomenon is called bioaccumulation of the chemicals in the living system. Thus the correct answer is option A.

    Solution
Municipal waste, commonly known as trash or garbage in the U.S. and as refuse or rubbish in the UK, is a waste type consisting of everyday items that are discarded by the public. Garbage can also refer specifically to food waste, as in a garbage disposal; the two are sometimes collected separately. Therefore, (b) is the correct answer.

Among these metals given below, which is the most valuable recyclable component of a printed circuit board?
    Solution
Printed Circuit boards (PCB), also known as green boards are designed specifically to support and facilitate the connection of electronic components. PCB can be recycled. PCBs can be shredded, dismantled, and processed so that valuable precious metals and other materials are separated from other low-value materials.the copper part of the board is totally recyclable as a metallic material. Recycling PCB help reduce depletion of natural resources i.e. copper.
    Hence answer is 'Copper'

E-waste contains hazardous substances that are harmful to the environment and human health if not properly treated or disposed of, therefore they must be handled with care. What are the health hazards which can be caused by e-waste?
    Solution

    • Electronic waste or e-waste describes discarded electrical or electronic devices.
    • Used electronics which are destined for reuse, resale, salvage, recycling, or disposal are also considered e-waste.
    • E-waste recycling spews dioxins into the air. E-waste recycling using uncontrolled processes is a major source of dioxin related compounds.
    • The air around e-waste recycling areas in Guiyu, China, contains the highest levels of dioxins ever recorded. When computers, televisions, music systems, and other electronic products reach the ends of their lives, they often end up in China or other developing countries as e-waste.
    • Such waste is a serious environmental threat in these parts of the world because of the poorly regulated conditions under which the waste is dismantled. E-waste affects the brain, lungs, and all over the body. There is also evidence of cell membrane lesion, causing DNA single-strand breaks.
    • DNA breaks can increase the likelihood of developing cancerDNA damages are a special problem in non-dividing or slowly dividing cells, where unrepaired damages will tend to accumulate over time.
    • On the other hand, in rapidly dividing cells, unrepaired DNA damages that do not kill the cell by blocking replication will tend to cause replication errors and thus mutation.
