Xylem tissue consists of tracheids, vessels, xylem parenchyma and xylem fibres. The cells have thick walls, and many of them are dead cells. Tracheids and vessels are tubular structures. This allows them to transport water and minerals vertically. The parenchyma stores food and helps in the sideways conduction of water. Fibres are mainly supportive in function.

Latex of Achras sapota plants yield chewing gum. Latex is obtained by making small cut in the stem to secrete juice like latex.

Grass belongs to monocots group of angiosperms in which secondary growth do not takes place. The elongation of stem takes place by activity of intercalary meristem.

Cork forms the outer protective dead tissue of epidermis in dicots. Cork is impervious to water because it has deposition of suberin and cells are compactly packed.

The collenchyma is the typical supporting tissue of the primary plant body and growing plant parts, though it is kept with unaltered structure and function even in outgrown organs like stems, petioles, laminae or roots. The walls of collenchyma cells are strengthened by the deposit of cellulose and the coating with pectin. These strengthenings are often restricted to single parts or edges of the cell.

Epidermis in plants provides protection, regulation of transpiration and formation of insulation stationary air layer with the help of hair on the surface of it.

The husk of coconut is made up of sclerenchyma tissue. Sclerenchyma is simple permanent tissue that provides mechanical support to parts of the plant.

Parenchyma tissue is present in all parts of plants that include cortex, flower, stem, leaves and pith. These tissues are thin walled and living.

Parenchyma, collenchyma and sclerenchyma are simple permanent tissue present in different parts of plants. Parenchyma and collenchyma are living but sclerenchymas are dead cells.

Apical meristem is present on the root and shoot tips that is responsible for growth in length of root and stem.
