Each of the questions below consists of a question and two statements numbered I and II given below it. You have to decide whether the data provided in the statements are sufficient to answer the question. Read both the statements and give answer :
    (A) if the data in statement I alone are sufficient to answer the question, while the data in statement II alone are not sufficient to answer the question.
    (B) if the data in statement II alone are sufficient to answer the question, while the data in
statement I alone are not sufficient to answer the question.

In which year was Rahul born ?

    I. Rahul at present is 25 years younger to his mother.

II. Rahul's brother, who was born in 1964, is 35 years younger to his mother.

    Solution

From both the statements I and II, we find that Rahul is 25 years younger to his mother whereas his brother is 35 years younger to his mother. This simply means that Rahul is elder to his brother by 10 years. So, if Rahul's brother was born in 1964 then Rahul was born in 1954.

So, we required both the statements to obtain the answer.

Are all the five friends viz. Mayuri, Shreya, Abhay, Aisha and Krishna who are seated around a circular table facing the centre?
    I. Mayuri sits second to left of Shreya. Shreya faces the centre. Abhay sits second to right of Mayuri.
II. Aisha sits third to the left of Krishna. Krishna faces the centre. Shreya sits to the immediate left of Aisha but Krishna is not an immediate neighbour of Shreya.

    Solution

From statement 1 Abhay sits second to the right of Mayuri. If Mayuri faces the centre then Abhay cannot be second to the right of Mayuri. It means Mayuri faces outward. From statement II, Aisha is facing outward.
