Shifting agriculture is known as Milpa in Mexico.

Shifting cultivation is practiced in the thickly forested areas of the Amazon basin, tropical Africa, parts of Southeast Asia, and Northeast India.

The temperature of a place is largely determined by its distance from the equator (latitude) and altitude. It influences distribution of crop plants and vegetation. Germination, growth and development of crops are highly influenced by temperature.

Cytidine is a nucleoside.

Cytidine is a nucleoside molecule that is formed when cytosine is attached to a ribose ring (also known as a ribofuranose) via a\(\beta-\text{N}_{1}\) -glycosidic bond. Cytidine is a component of RNA. If cytosine is attached to a deoxyribose ring, it is known as a deoxycytidine.

Golden rice is rich in Beta carotene.

Genetically engineered “Golden Rice” contains up to \(35 \mu \mathrm{g} \beta\)-carotene per gram of rice. It is important to determine the vitamin A equivalency of Golden Rice \(\beta\)-carotene to project the potential effect of this biofortified grain in rice-consuming populations that commonly exhibit low vitamin A status.

Date palm trees are native to the Mediterranean region and thrive in warm dry or humid climates. It does best in USDA hardiness zones 8–11 and requires full sun. They may take up to four years to mature, but they typically bloom in late winter or early spring.

Vicia fabaplant was used by Taylor to prove semiconservative replication at chromosomal level.

The use of radioactive thymidine to detect the semiconservative mode of replication of newly synthesized DNA in the chromosomes was performed on Vicia faba by Taylor and colleagues in \(1958\). This experiment proved that the DNA in chromosomes replicates semi conservatively.

Para grass is also commonly known as buffalo grass, California grass, giant couchgrass, water grass and pani wali ghas. It is an exotic, hairy and perennial grass, spreadingrapidly by surface runners, profusely rooting at nodes.

It grows well in waterlogging conditions on river and canal banks and can withstand prolonged flooding. This grass is more suited for water-inundated conditions and sewage farms.It is agrass of tropical climate and grows well in warm humid situations of high rainfall areas but in protected areas, it can persist with rainfall as low as \(900\) mm per year.

Trap crop used to control Orabanche are Mung bean and Maize.

Trap crops promote the germination of Orabanche aegyptiaca seeds, but do not allow parasitism. These include flax, mung bean, maize, and sorghum. Catch crops allow parasitism, but are destroyed before the parasitic plants flower, so the broomrape seeds cannot be produced and dispersed.

Most common herbicide used for weed control in Potato is Basalin (Fluchloralin).

• Chemical name is N-(2-Chloroethyl) - 2, 6-dinitro-N-Propyl- 4-(Trifluoromethyl) aniline.
• It is applied before planting and mixed with the soil.
• It is available as emulsifiable concentrate or as granules, belongs to dinitro-anilines group and is volatile.
• It is more or less susceptible to photo-degradation and therefore be quickly incorporated into the soil before planting of potato crop.
• It is absorbed by the root and translocated throughout the plant system.
