  • Question 1
    4 / -1

The diagram given below is a vapour pressure composition diagram for a binary solution of A and B. In the solution, A-B interactions are:

    Solution

The vapour pressure of the solutions is almost equal to the vapour pressure of the initial A-A and B-B interactions.

Hence, there is no deviation, neither positive nor negative.

Therefore, A-B intersections are similar to the A-A and B-B interactions.

  • Question 2

Standard enthalpies of formation of CO2(g), CO(g), N2O(g) and NO2(g) in kJ/mol are -393, -110, 81 and 34, respectively. What is the value of ∆H (in kJ) in the following reaction?

    2NO2 (g) + 3CO (g) → N2O (g) + 3CO2 (g)

    Solution

    Genius Reaction is ,

    N2O4(g) + 3CO(g) -----> N2O(g) + 3CO2(g)

    we know,

heat of reaction ( ∆rH°) = ( sum of heat of formation of products ) - ( sum of heat of formation of reactants )

    e.g., ∆rH° = [∆fH°(N2O) + 3fH°(CO2) ] - [∆fH°(N2O4) + 3fH°(CO) ]

    Given, enthalpy of formation of CO, CO2 , N2O, and N2O4 are -110, -393 , 81 and 9.7 KJ/mol respectively .

    now, ∆rH° = [81 + 3(-393)] - [9.7 + 3(-110)]

    = -777.7 KJ

The work function of a substance is 4.0eV. The longest wavelength of light that can cause photoelectron emission from this substance is approximately:

    Solution

    Given,

The work function of a substance,

    = 4.0eV

The minimum energy of incident radiations, required to eject the electrons from the metallic surface is defined as the work function of that surface.

  • Question 5

Select the correct match from the following.

    Solution

Lepisma saccharina, commonly known as a silverfish or fishmoth, is a small, wingless insect in the order Thysanura, class Insecta. Therefore, it is an incorrect match.

Jellyfish are the major non-polyp form of individuals of the phylum Cnidaria of class Scyphozoa. Therefore, it is the correct match.

Cuttlefish are marine animals of the order Sepiida. They belong to the class Cephalopoda. Therefore, it incorrect match.

Crayfish, also known as crawfish, freshwater lobsters belongs to class Malacostraca of phylum arthropoda. Therefore, it is an incorrect match.

Consider the following statements regarding Wetlands sites.

    1. In India Wetlands rules are notified under the provisions of the Environment (Protection) Act, 1986.

    2. All wetlands, paddy fields, river channels are notified under the Wetlands rules.

    3. Ramsar is an intergovernmental treaty work with local, national and international cooperation.

    4. Coastal Zone Regulation have been excluded from notification under the Wetlands Rules.

    5. Ramsar wetlands sites are registered in a Montreux record register.

Select the correct answer using the code given below.

    Solution

Statement 1 is correct- In India Wetlands rules (Conservation and Management) Rules, 2017 is under the provisions of the Environment (Protection) Act, 1986.

Statement 2 is incorrect- Wetlands size, biodiversity, location and ecosystem services values are included under the wetlands rules but River channels; Paddy fields; and certain categories of Human-made water bodies are not includes in these rules.

Statement 3 is correct-. Ramsar is an intergovernmental treaty work with local, national and international cooperation.

Statement 4 is correct- The protected area included under coastal zone regulation has been excluded from wetlands rules.

Statement 5 is correct- Ramsar wetlands sites are registered in a Montreux record register. In this register wetlands, changes in ecological character have occurred, are occurring, or are likely to occur as a result of technological developments, pollution or other human interference. Currently, two Indian lakes namely Loktak Lake and Keoladeo National Park are in Montreux Record.

    Syngamy means:

    Solution

Syngamy is the process of fusion of male and female gametes to form a diploid zygote. It involves the close association of gametes and results in the formation of a zygote.

  • Question 9

Two masses m1 and m2 are suspended together by a mass-less spring of spring constant K. When the masses are in equilibrium, m1 is removed without disturbing the system. The angular frequency and amplitude of oscillation of m2 are

    Solution

    Solution:
As it is given that masses are in equilibrium so initially there is no motionwhich means that there will be no angular velocity in the start when m1 is removed equilibrium will be disturbed and an angular velocity is produced and it will revolve in a circle
We know the formula for angular frequency of an object

  • Question 10

Haemozoin is a toxic substance released upon which of the following events?

    Solution

The Plasmodium species during malarial formation, metabolize hemoglobin and other RBC proteins to create a toxic pigment called hemozoin. Haemozoin is a waste product formed when the parasite digests the blood. The parasite digests the hemoglobin of the blood and release high quantities of free heme. This heme released is a non-protein component of hemoglobin. The haemozoin is, therefore, a product of the erythrocyte lysis released from the food vacuole into circulation.
