Meristematic tissues have the power of cell division.because it is composed of immature and undifferentiated cells which are either in a continuous state of division or retain the power of division .The cells produced by meristem later transform into permanent cells.

Lateral meristem helps in increasing the girth of a plant because they surround the established stem of a plant and cause it to grow laterally (i.e., larger in diameter).

Phloem tissue translocates food in plants.This process of transportation is called translocation.

Meristematic tissue helps in growth of the plants as they are composed of immature,undifferentiated cells which are in the state of division and growth.

Primary growth is produced by intercalary meristem. Its position is either at the base of the leaf, at the base of the node or after the base of internode. This type of meristem produces primary permanent tissue and helps in the increment of plant.

Sclerenchyma tissue provides mechanical strength to the plants. This is due to the cell geometry and the orientation of the cellulose which provides diverse combinations of strength, flexibility and stiffness in plant organs subjected to different loads by gravity, wind and weather.

Phloem tissue possess sieve tubes and companion cells. The metabolic functioning of sieve-tube members depends on a close association with the companion cells, which transporting sugars throughout the plant.

Medullary rays does not occur in xylem. All other options occurs in xylem.

Ground tissue produces cork cambium. It is a lateral meristem and is responsible for secondary growth that replaces the epidermis in roots and stems.
