Abhinav Bharat Sabha (Young India Society) was a secret society founded by Savarkar Brothers named Vinayak Damodar Savarkar and his brother Ganesh Damodar Savarkar in 1903. It carried out a few assassinations of British officials, after which the Savarkar brothers were convicted and imprisoned. The society was formally disbanded in 1952.

The decision to effect the Partition of Bengal was announced on 19 July 1905 by the Viceroy of India, Lord Curzon. The partition took place on 16 October 1905 and separated the largely Muslim eastern areas from the largely Hindu western areas. The partition animated the Muslims to form their own national organization on communal lines.

Hume organised the first meeting of the Indian National Congress [INC] in Bombay with the approval of the Viceroy Lord Dufferin. Womesh Chandra Bonnerjee was the first president of Congress; the first session was attended by 72 delegates representing each province of India.

In 1913, Pacific Coast Hindustan Association was founded by Lala Hardayal with Sohan Singh Bhakna as its president, which was called Ghadar Party. The members of this party were the immigrant sikhs of US and Canada. The first issue of The Ghadar Party was published from San Francisco on November 1, 1913.

All-India Muslim League (popularised as Muslim League) was a political party established during the early years of the 20th century in the British Indian Empire. It was founded by Nawab Khwaja Salimullah on 30 December 1906 at Dacca, British Raj (now in Dhaka, Bangladesh).

During Home Rule Movement, Bal Gangadhar Tilak (B. G. Tilak) toured different parts of the country. At one meeting during his tour he said the above given statement.

A large group of protestors, participating in the Non-Cooperation Movement, clashed with the police at Chauri Chaura, who opened fire. In retaliation, the demonstrators attacked and set fire to a police station, killing all of its occupants. The incident led to the deaths of three civilians and 22 or 23 policemen. Mahatma Gandhi, who was strictly against violence, halted the Non-Cooperation Movement on the national level as a direct result of this incident.

The Belgaum Session of 1924 was the only session of Indian National Congress (INC) presided over by Mahatma Gandhi. The Indian National Congress held its thirty-ninth session at Belgaum on the 26th and 27th December 1924. The chairman for the 39th session was M. K. Gandhi.

The three Round Table Conferences of 1930–32 were a series of conferences organised by the British Government to discuss constitutional reforms in India. Dr. Ambedkar and Tej Bahadur Sapru took part in all the three round table conferences. Mahatma Gandhi took part in the Second Round Table Conference. Prior to the First Round Table Conference, M. K. Gandhi had initiated the Civil Disobedience Movement on behalf of the Indian National Congress.

Labour Kisan Party of Hindustan was a political party in India. The party was founded by Singaravelu Chettiar on 1 May, 1923, in Madras. This was the first "May Day" celebration in India. This was also the first time the red flag was used in India. Chettiar described Congress 'our chief political organ' but was critical of it being dominated by the propertied class or the landlords.
