  • Question 1
    2 / -0.5

From the original position given in the above figure, A and B move one arm length clockwise and then Toss over to the corner diagonally opposite; C and move one arm length anti-clockwise and cross over the corner diagonally opposite. The original configuration ADBC has now changed to

    Solution

Clearly, (i), (ii), (iii) and (iv) show the movement of A, B, C, and D respectively while the new arrangement so obtained is shown in (v). So, the configuration changes to CBDA.

  • Question 2
    2 / -0.5

Direction: In these questions, a question is given followed by information in three statements. You have to consider the information in all the three statements and decide the information in which of the statements is not necessarily required to answer the question and therefore can be dispensed with. Indicate vo'iransw accordingly.

What is the labelled price of the article ?

    I. Cost price of the article is ₹ 500.

II. Selling price after offering 5% discount on the labelled price is ₹ 608.

III. Profit earned would have been 28%, if no discount was offered.

    Solution

Let the labelled price of article be ₹ x.

    Then, from Statement II,

    ∴ x = ₹ 640

So, we can find the answer without the Statements I and III.

Now. '.wing Statements I and III, CP = ₹ 500

    Profit = 28%

    ∴ Labelled price = 128% of 500 = ₹ 640

Thus, either Statement Il or Statements I and Ill together can be dispensed with.

  • Question 3
    2 / -0.5

Direction: Each of the following questions is followed by two Statements.

In a general body election, 3 candidates p, q and r were contesting for a membership of the board. How many votes did each receive?

    I. p received 17 votes more than q and 103 votes more than r.

II. Total votes cast were 1703.

    Solution

    From Statement I,

    p = q + 17 and p = r + 103

    From Statement II.

    p + q + r = 1703 ⇒ 3p = 1823 ⇒ p = 607.67

So, value of p, q and r can be found out by combining both the statements.

Note. Figures are faulty as number of votes cannot be fraction but statements yield results

  • Question 4
    2 / -0.5

Direction: Each of the following questions is followed by two Statements.

How many ice cubes can be accommodated in a container?

    I. The length and breadth of the container is 20 cm and 15 cm, respectively.

II. The edge of the ice cube is 2 cm.

    Solution

Even after combining both statements, the volume of the container cannot be determined as height of the container is not given. Hence, the number of icc cubes that can be accommodated cannot be determined.

  • Question 5
    2 / -0.5

Direction: Each of the following questions is followed by two Statements.

Ram got ₹1500 as dividend from a company. What is the rate of interest given by the company?

    I. The dividend paid last year was 103.

II. Ram has 350 shares of ₹10 denomination.

    Solution

Statement I teils only about tire previous year's rate.

    Statement II

    Dividend from 350 shares = ₹1500

    Divided from 1 shares = 150/35 = 30/7 = 4.28

So, the rate of interest can be found out as

    ⇒ R = 42.8 π

Therefore, Statement II alone is sufficient.

  • Question 6
    2 / -0.5

Two number A and 8 are such that their GM is 20% lower than their AM. Find the ratio between the numbers.

    (a+b)/2 = AM

Here it is given that GM = 20% less than AM, that is

    GM = 4/5 AM

    only possibility is a = 1 & b = 4 or a = 4, b = 1

    So, ratio is 4 :1
