JEE Main Exam Analysis 2020 : 1st Shift Exam Analysis & Memory Based Question 2nd September 2020

The JEE Main 2020 paper analysis for 2 September B.Tech / B.E exam is available now. Overall, the shift 1 paper was moderate. As per student reaction, the most difficult section was Physics. Whereas, Maths was moderate in the level of difficulty and Chemistry was also moderate. Section wise analysis:

Chemistry: 1 question was asked from organic chemistry and 1 from inorganic chemistry. From physical chemistry new type of question was asked. 12 questions can from class 11 and 13 questions from class 12. The overall difficulty was moderate. The candidates who have sound knowledge of NCERT can do this section easily and score well. Chemistry section was totally NCERT based.

Maths: 10 questions from class 11 and from class 12 there were 15 questions. 5 questions were asked from algebra, 2 from trigonometry, 6 questions from coordinate geometry, 5 questions came from calculus, 4 questions from differential calculus, 1 question from complex number, 2 questions from sequence and series, and 3 questions from vector and 3d.

Physics: Almost 10 questions from class 11 and from class 12 there were 15 questions. 7 questions came from mechanics, 4 questions came from thermodynamics, 3 from optics, 3 from modern physics, 1question came from general physics, 1 from semiconductors and 6 questions came from electromagnetism.

Initial Reaction of Students:

  • Students are really happy with hygiene and SOPs at the center.
  • Sanitisation was done properly inside the centers, and social distancing was maintained.
  • SOPs were all maintained. Students said they felt safe inside the centers.
  • Talking about the numerical value type questions, then these questions were most difficult in physics, moderate in Chemistry, and simple in Maths.
  • The weightage of class 11 and 12 syllabus was equal.
  • Most of the questions were Numerical based in Physics.
  • Chemistry has theoretical questions mostly.

Mode: The exam is being held in CBT mode

Language: The question paper of JEE Main 2020 is made available in Hindi, English, and Gujarati (only for centers in Gujarat, Daman & Diu and Dadra and Nagar Haveli).

Duration: Candidates get 3 hours to complete the exam

Marking scheme: The marking scheme is given below

  • For every correct answer, candidates get 4 marks
  • No negative marking in numerical type questions.
  • 1 mark shall be deducted for wrong answer in MCQ question.
  • 1 mark shall be deducted for choosing multiple answers for MCQ question.
