To make sure all seats in Central Universities are filled, the University Grants Commission (UGC) has shared some new rules. "Leaving seats empty for a whole year wastes resources and stops many students from getting a good education," the UGC said.
The new rules say that CUET (Common University Entrance Test) scores will be the main way to admit students to Central Universities. But even if students took the CUET and didn't apply to specific universities or programs before, they can still be considered.
"In cases where seats are still not filled, universities are permitted to conduct their own entrance exams at the university level to fill these vacancies," stated UGC Chairman Prof M Jagadesh Kumar.#UGC #UG #PG #EntranceExam #university #TheStatesman pic.twitter.com/ltAcHyjh1H

Universities can also hold their own entrance exams or tests through relevant departments to fill any remaining empty seats after the CUET applicant list is used up.
Universities can admit students based on their qualifying exam marks. Students who took the CUET can be considered no matter which subject papers they took. Universities can also relax subject-specific criteria for certain courses or programs.
The UGC emphasized that the whole admission process must be fair and open, with the reservation system applying to all courses and programs. Universities must finish the admission process on time to prevent any academic loss for students.
