Although CUET has changed the admission process, class 12 marks are still very important. These not only complete the CUET score but also play a key role in the merit list and admission decision in many universities. Hence, class 12 marks cannot be ignored.

Some universities admit students based on CUET scores only, while some universities also take into account the candidate’s Class 12 academic record. Role of Class 12 Marks in CUET

Class 12 marks may not be directly used to calculate CUET scores, but they can play a significant role in the admission process. Here are a few ways Class 12 marks can impact CUET admissions:

Minimum Marks Requirement: Many universities have a minimum marks requirement in Class 12 for admission. For example, candidates seeking admission to Delhi University must have passed Class 12 or its equivalent from a recognised board.

Subject alignment: Delhi University 2025 will require subjects to be selected in CUET that are taught in Class 12. For example, if one has studied Biochemistry in Class 12, then Biology will have to be selected in CUET.

Weight in final merit list: Some universities give more weightage to Class 12 grades while preparing the final merit list. Better board results increase the chances of selection.

For special programmes: Some courses require good marks in specific subjects in Class 12, such as English or Humanities in BA.

CUET Domain Preparation: CUET preparation has to be done in 1.5-2 months after the board exams. If the student has prepared well for the Class 12 subjects, then the CUET domain preparation becomes easy.
