CUET UG Exam 2025 : NTA Introduces New Rules & Major Changes - Everything You Need to Know

The National Testing Agency (NTA) has released the schedule for CUET (UG) 2025, the entrance exam for undergraduate admissions to central and participating universities. The application process has begun and will continue till March 22, 2025.

This year, the University Grants Commission (UGC) has announced major changes in CUET UG 2025. These changes have been announced to boost the efficiency of the entrance exam for undergraduate courses.

Some of the major changes in CUET UG 2025 include changes in the mode of examination, reduction in the number of subjects, uniformity in the duration of the exam, and the format and number of questions.

This year, some changes have been made to the computer-based exam, making it important for candidates to stay updated. Understanding the changes in the exam pattern will help candidates prepare effectively.

CUET UG 2025 Exam Changes & Important Highlights

Exam Languages: CUET UG 2025 will be conducted in 13 languages – English, Hindi, Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Odia, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu, and Urdu.

Online Mode: The exam will be completely online this year.

Subject Selection: Students can choose 5 subjects instead of 6.

No Subject Restrictions: Students can pick any subjects, even if they didn’t study them in Class 12.

Exam Duration: Each subject’s exam will be 60 minutes long.

Reduced Subjects: The number of subjects has been reduced to 37 from 63, focusing on the General Aptitude Test.

No Optional Questions: Students must attempt all questions—optional questions are removed this year.

CUET UG 2025 Deleted Subjects

UGC has removed 20 foreign languages and six domain subjects, reducing the number of subjects from 63 to 37.

Foreign Languages Removed:
French, Spanish, German, Nepali, Persian, Italian, Arabic, Sindhi, Kashmiri, Konkani, Bodo, Dogri, Maithili, Manipuri, Santhali, Sanskrit, Tibetan, Japanese, Russian, Chinese.

Domain Subjects Removed:
Entrepreneurship, Teaching Aptitude, Fashion Studies, Tourism, Legal Studies, Engineering Graphics.
