ICSE Subject Selection

ICSE Class 10 Exam Pattern

The Exam Pattern of ICSE Class 10 will help the students to get an overview of the questions, marking scheme, and weightage of questions. Students will also be able to get an idea about the questions that are regularly asked.

English I Exam Pattern (2 hours)

There will be 4 broad questions. It contains 4 sections. These sections contain unseen passages, letters etc.

English – II Exam Pattern (2 Hours)

Section – A (2 questions )

Section – B (2 questions )

Section – C (2 questions ) essay type question

For Maths (2 ½ hours)

Section – A ( A total of 40 marks where each question contains 10 marks)

Section – B ( 7 questions out of which 4 questions are to be solved for obtaining 40 marks each)

For Hindi (3 hours) – 1st section contains Hindi Language

It has 3 major parts – i) Essay for about 250 words ii) Letter writing iii) Unseen passage

Second section contains Hindi Literature where students are supposed to answer any 4 questions from the prescribed two books.

For Physics ( 2 hrs)

Section – A – Short questions worth 40 marks

Section – B – is for 40 marks where 6 questions are asked out of which only 4 are to be solved.

For Chemistry (2 hrs)

Section – A – Short questions worth 40 marks

Section – B – is for 40 marks where 6 questions are asked out of which only 4 are to be solved.

For Biology (2 hrs)

Section – A – Short questions worth 40 marks

Section – B – is for 40 marks where 6 questions are asked out of which only 4 are to be solved.

For History and Civics (2 hrs)

Section – A This section deals with civics subject (10 marks)

Second part deals with history subject (20 marks)

Section – B is for 20 marks where in the first part there are 3 long answer type questions from civics out of which any 2 are to be solved

Second part has a total of 30 marks where 5 long answer type questions from history are asked but only 3 are to be solved

For Geography (2 hrs)

First part has 2 questions –

i) Map of India for 10 marks

ii) Survey map and its interpretation for a total of 20 marks

Second part has 9 questions out of which only 5 questions are to be solved and in this part a student can score a maximum of 50 marks

For EVS (2 hrs)

First part has 4 compulsory questions and the second part has 5 long answer type questions out of which 4 are to be solved.
