    $$ \implies \dfrac{10}{R} = \dfrac{1}{3} \implies R = 30 \Omega $$

    Since they are connected in series,the equivalent resistance is given by,
    $$ R^{}_{eq} = R + R' \implies  R^{}_{eq} = 30 + 10 = 40 \Omega $$
