• The act of breathing out air from the lungs is called exhalation. By this process, the waste product of respiration i.e. CO$$_{2}$$ is expelled out of the lungs.

Respiration is the process by which cells in plants break down sugar to get energy. This energy is then used to perform work at the cellular level. The purpose of cellular respiration is simple, it provides cells with the energy they need to function. 

Earthworms breathe through their skins. The skin of an earthworm feels moist and slimy on touching. Gases can easily pass through them. Though frogs have a pair of lungs like human beings, they can also breathe through their skin, which is moist and slippery.
