It experiences a dry season because during the winter the monsoon winds retreat and it moves in the south-east direction. This is due to the change in the pressure conditions caused by the shifting of direct sun rays towards the equator from the Tropic of Cancer. This lowers the temperature of the subcontinental landmass that results in the differential heating of the land and the adjoining water bodies like Bay of Bengal and the Indian Ocean. High-pressure areas are formed over the landmass. The wind direction is reversed and moves in the south-east direction towards the Bay of Bengal.

The monsoon is caused by differential temperature trends over the land and ocean. In India, the southwest summer monsoon is attracted by a low-pressure area that's caused by the extreme heat of the Thar Desert and adjoining areas, during summer. After the monsoon season is over, the wind direction reverses.

Hot weather season is also referred to as summer season that lasts from March to May. Warm weather season in India is characterized by warm days and warm nights.

October heat is mainly experienced in Delhi. October is marked by clear cloudless sky, high temperature and high humidity. It is a transition period between the rainy season and the cold dry season. 

• Mahawat in terms of geography is a small amount of winter rainfall due to western and north western cyclonic disturbances.
  
• This is best for rabi crops which are grown during the winter season.
  

• The wind flowing in the northern plains in summers is known as loo.
  
• Loo is a strong hot and dry winds that blows over the western Indo-Gangetic plain of north India and Pakistan.

The place that receives the most rainfall in the world is an Indian village called Mawsynram which is located in the Indian state of Meghalaya, India. This village receives an average of 467 inches of rain per year. The amount of rain is high in this region because the Himalayan mountains block the movement of rain clouds northward into Tibet. 

Most of the rain falls between June and September, during the monsoon season.

Some of the cyclonic depressions manage to cross the eastern coasts of southern peninsula resulting in heavy and widespread rains on the coast of Tamil Nadu and parts of Odisha. These cyclonic storms move from the north-east to the south-west. The bulk of the rainfall on the Coromandel coast is derived from depressions and cyclones. 

Mawsynram is a village in the East Khasi Hills district of Meghalaya state in northeastern India, 65 kilometres from Shillong. Mawsynram receives the highest rainfall in India and the World. It is reportedly the wettest place on Earth, with an average annual rainfall of 11,872 millimetres (467.4 in).  According to the Guinness Book of World Records, Mawsynram received 26,000 millimetres (1,000 in) of rainfall in 1985.
