What kind of image is formed by a magnifying glass?
  • Question 2
    1 / -0

A water tank appears shallower when it is viewed from top due to:

    Solution

A water tank appears shallower when it is viewed from the top due to refraction. This phenomenon is because of the refraction of light. The lines of sight intersect at a higher position than where the actual rays originated. This causes the water to appear shallower than it really is. The depth that the water appears to be when viewed from above is known as the apparent depth.

Hence, the correct option is (D).

  • Question 7

Which of the following is not correct about the usage of lenses?
  • Question 8
    1 / -0

The rainbow formation is due to:

    Solution

Rainbows are formed when light from the sun is scattered by water droplets (e.g. raindrops or fog) through a process called refraction. Refraction occurs when the light from the sun changes direction when passing through a medium denser than air, such as a raindrop.

Sunlight hitting a water droplet (sphere) in the atmosphere will be refracted on the surface of the droplet, and enters the droplet. When the refraction process occurs, the light breaks up into seven colors inside the water droplet and is next reflected at the other surface of the droplet after traveling inside it.

Hence, the correct option is (D).
