Sucrose is translocated through phloem can be demonstrated by ________

    Solution

Defoliation is the detachment of leaves from the branch. Grafting is a method of vegetative propagation. Root pressure is responsible for upward movement of water and minerals in xylem. Ringing of stem in girdling experiment is the method of explain the translocation of sucrose is carried out through phloem.

Translocation of organic substances is the movement of organic nutrients from the region of the source to sink. Phloem (sieve tubes or sieve cells) is the pathway for this translocation, as proved by stem girdling, sieve tube puncture, radio autographs and sieve tube analysis experiment.

A giant telescope in an observatory has an objective of focal length 19 m and an eye-piece of focal length 1.0cm. In normal adjustment, the telescope is used to view the moon. What is the diameter of the image of the moon formed by the objective? The diameter of the moon is 3.5 × 106m and the radius of the lunar orbit around Earth is 3.8 × 108m.

Select the correct match of the types of neuron given in column-I with its location given in column-II.

      Column I   Column II
    (A) Sclera (I) The visible coloured portion of the eye
    (B)  Choroid (II)  Its diameter is regulated by the muscle fibres of iris
    (C)  Pupil (III)  Composed of a dense connective tissue
    (D)  Fovea (IV)  Portion of the retina where only the cones are densely packed
    (E)  Iris (V)  Contains many blood vessels and looks bluish in colour
    Solution

Sclera is the external layer composed of dense connective tissue. It is the tough, opaque tissue that serves as protective outer coat for eye. Choroid contains many blood vessels and looks bluish in colour. Pupil is a hole located in the centre of the iris of the eye that allows light to strike the retina. It appears black because light rays entering the pupil are either absorbed by the tissues inside the eye directly, or absorbed after diffuse reflections within the eye that mostly miss exiting the narrow pupil. Fovea is a portion of retina where only the cones are densely packed. Iris is the visible coloured portion of the eye.

Two ideal junction diodes D1 and Dare connected to a battery as shown in the figure. What is the current supplied by the battery if its terminals are interchanged?

    Solution

When the terminals are reserved D1 is then reverse biased which will fetch no current, so the resistance 10 ohm is out from the scene now, the current is equal to the resistance and since D2 is forward biased 20 ohm resistance will only be counted therefore current is equal to

The difference between lectin and lecithin is:

    Solution

The main differentiating factor between lectin and lecithin is that lectin is a secondary metabolite. Concanavalin A is a plant protein which binds with carbohydrate whereas lecithin is a fatty substance which is found in plant and animal tissues. Lectin. due to its ability to bind with carbohydrates reduces nutrient absorption. Lecithin itself is an essential fatty nutrient, a major component of phosphatidylcholine with the ability to lower the bad cholesterol in the body.

Which of the following statements is correct?

    a. rRNA is the most abundant RNA.

    b. Ribosomes are composed of approximately 80% rRNA and 20% ribosomal proteins.

    c. rRNA is a type of coding RNA.

    Solution

rRNA is most abundant in the cell. It constitutes 80% of the total RNA of the cell. Ribosomes are composed of approximately 60% rRNA and 40% ribosomal proteins. rRNA is a type of non-coding RNA.
