JEE Main 2020: Exam Schedule Released

The National Testing Agency (NTA) has announced the examination schedule of Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main 2020. All the candidates can check the JEE Main 2020 exam dates on the official website of NTA, the link for which is nta.ac.in.

JEE Main 2020 schedule: Dates

  • JEE (Main) 2020 January session: January 6 to January 11
  • April session: April 9 to April 13

JEE Main 2020: Registration process

As per the official notice, the online registration process of JEE Main 2020 (January) for admission to NITs, IIITs and CFTIs will begin from September 2, 2019. The NTA will conduct the application process of JEE (Main) 2020 on the official website, the link for which is jeemain.nic.in

Registration for JEE (Main) 2020 January session: The online registration process will close on September 30 and the admit cards will be available on December 6. Further, the results will be out on January 31.

Registration for JEE (Main) 2020 April session: Meanwhile, the application process for the April session will be held from February 7 to March 7, 2020. The admit cards will be available from March 16.

Details of JEE Main 2019:

This year, the JEE Main April edition was conducted throughout the country and abroad on April 7, 8, 9, 10 and 12 through the Computer Based Test (CBT) mode.

A total of 9, 29,198 students registered for the JEE Main in January, while 9, 35,741 appeared for the same in April session.

About JEE (Main):

  • JEE (Main) will be conducted twice before admissions in the next academic session
  • The students will have following benefits of the new pattern
  • This will give one more opportunity to the students to improve their scores in examination if they fail to give their best in first attempt without wasting their whole academic year
  • In first attempt, the students will get a first-hand experience of taking an examination and to know their mistakes which they can improve while attempting for the second time
  • This will reduce chances of dropping a year and droppers would not have to waste a full year.
  • If anyone missed the examination due to reasons beyond control, then he/she won't have to wait for one full year.
  • The student's best of the two NTA scores will be considered for preparation of Merit List/ Ranking

Mode of examination:

JEE (Main) will be conducted in the following mode:

(a) Paper 1 (BE/BTech) in "Computer Based Test (CBT)" mode only

(b) Paper 2 (BArch/ BPlanning): Mathematics- Part I and Aptitude Test-Part II in "Computer Based Test (CBT)" mode only and Drawing Test -Part III in "Pen & Paper Based" (offline) mode to be attempted on drawing sheet.

About JEE (Main):

JEE Main score is applicable for admission to NITs, IIITs, CFTIs and even private engineering and architecture courses. A cut-off will also be released for the candidates to qualify for JEE Advanced exam which is an entrance gateway for admission to the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs).
