JEE Main Exam Analysis 2020 : 1st & 2nd Shift Exam Analysis & Memory Based Question - 1st September 2020

After the end of shift 1 exam today, the shift 2 of JEE Main 2020 B.Arch and B.Plan paper has started. The second shift will end at 5:30 pm. Today NTA is conducting B.Arch and B.Plan papers. Via the analysis, candidates can get an idea of the cutoff marks, level of the exam, weightage of questions, memory-based, and changes in pattern, etc. Also, this year the analysis will also include the student’s experience of exam in COVID-19 as well. The exams have been held even after most of the students disagreed with NTA’s decision to hold the exam in September. To get the detailed analysis of JEE Main 1 Sep 2020 analysis, read below.

JEE Main 1 Sep 2020 Analysis

Exam: JEE Main 2020 B.Arch and JEE Main 2020 B.Plan
For: Admission in B.Arch and B.Plan
Shift 1 time: 9 AM to 12:00 Noon
Shift 2 time: 2:30 PM to 5:30 PM

JEE Main 01 Sep 2020 Analysis for Shift 2

  • Shift 2 paper was overall moderate, however, students said that they felt a little distracted as they have the fear of COVID-19 in the back of the mind.

Section wise analysis:

  • Maths: 10 to 15 questions requiring lengthy calculations made this section toughest.
  • Aptitude: The Aptitude section, however, was easier and relatively expected.

Cutoff: Students said that this year they are expecting the cutoff to rise as the paper was very easy.

Topics asked:

  • Maths: Functions were difficult, matrices were easy, the difficult questions came from hyperbola, measurements, and three-dimensional geometry.
  • Aptitude: General aptitude was easy and had questions about patterns and sequence, top view, front view, and theoretical questions on architecture.
  • Drawing: The drawing questions were based on views of pictures and odd figures.

Students reaction on paper:

  • None of the questions were hard, every question was easy.
  • There were some issues with social distancing outside the exam center. However, inside the center, all protocols were in place.
  • The initial reaction of the students indicates that the paper level was as usual. The difficulty level was average. Except for maths which was a bit on the difficult side.
  • Maths was lengthy.
  • Paper was overall easy.
  • The aptitude section was very easy.
  • Some students said the drawing part was hard too.
  • In drawing questions were from views of in pictures, odd figures, etc.
  • There were questions of general knowledge, and questions based on figures in the aptitude section.
  • The paper was like every year, there was no difference.

JEE Main 2020 1 Sep Student Reaction: Following of SOPs and Travel Arrangements

After the exam

  • Students left the hall maintaining social distancing.
  • There was one hand distance between the students inside the hall.
  • No need to worry about safety or COVID. The precautions were all in place.
  • Only the preparation was affected as the concentration was low this time, however, the exam went pretty well. Said many students.
  • There was no difficulty due to COVID-19in the exam hall.
  • Most students said that the arrangement was appreciable.
  • Social media is witnessing mixed reactions from the students.
  • Some students said the social distancing and SOPs were well maintained. While others are criticising the arrangements.

While entering the centre

  • Students said that social distancing was maintained.
  • A student from Jammu and Kashmir said that “Today we have the exam of B. Architecture, therefore there are fewer students. It’s good that the exam is being conducted.”
  • Students from West Bengal said, “I am carrying my own sanitiser and I had also undergone a full body checkup”.
  • A student from Odisha said, “It’s good for our future that exams are being held.”
  • A candidate from Jharkhand said, “We have been informed that we will undergo sanitisation, thermal check & frisking before we enter the computer lab.”

SOPs: The SOPs at the exam centre were followed as per the guidelines by NTA across the nation. There were the following arrangements in place:

  • Fresh masks and gloves
  • Hand sanitisers
  • Thermo gun temperature check
  • Frisking via metal detectors
  • Ropes for crowd management
  • Social distancing managed at the centre by volunteers

Travel arrangements: Reaching the exam center was troublesome for some students even after the states arranged free of cost transport systems. A candidate from Bihar said, “There were no autos/buses available to reach here.”

JEE Main 2020 Exam Pattern

Mode: The exam is being held in CBT mode

Language: The question paper of JEE Main 2020 is made available in Hindi, English, and Gujarati (only for centers in Gujarat, Daman & Diu and Dadra and Nagar Haveli).

Duration: Candidates get 3 hours to complete the exam

Marking scheme: The marking scheme is given below

  • For every correct answer, candidates get 4 marks
  • No negative marking in numerical type questions.
  • 1 mark shall be deducted for wrong answer in MCQ question.
  • 1 mark shall be deducted for choosing multiple answers for MCQ question.
