The West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination Board (WBJEEB) has clarified that the WBJEE 2025 results will not be declared today, August 7. The delay is due to ongoing legal proceedings in the Calcutta High Court.

The court has taken suo motu cognizance of the matter due to the controversy over the state's revised OBC reservation list.

Concerns were raised over some emails sent to WBJEEB and the reservation policy in the JEMAS-PG merit list. Taking cognizance of this, Justice Kaushik Chanda had directed to stay the WBJEE result. The court had rejected the state government's inclusion of 77 new communities in the OBC list due to lack of proper reasoning.

The WBJEE 2025 answer key was released on May 9 and candidates were allowed to file objections till May 11.

What did the court say?

The court has asked the Principal Secretary of the state's Higher Education Department to appear on August 7 and clarify the state's stand. Until this matter is resolved, the WBJEE 2025 result will not be declared.

Original Result Date

The WBJEE 2025 exam was conducted on April 27 and the result was planned to be released on June 5. But due to the court's direction, it is getting delayed till now. According to the board, this delay is due to the ongoing legal process on the revised list of OBC sub-castes.

2023: Exam – 30 April | Result – 26 May
2022: Exam – 30 April | Result – 17 June

In previous years, WBJEE result has been declared in May or June, but this time it is pending in August as well.
