A polynomial of degree two is called a quadratic polynomial. An equation involving a quadratic polynomial is called a quadratic equation. A quadratic equation is an equation that can be written in the form ax² + bx + c = 0, where a ≠ 0. This form is called the standard form of a quadratic equation. A quadratic equation can have two, one or no real number solutions.

A polynomial of degree 3 is called a cubic polynomial. A univariate cubic polynomial has the form F(x) = a₃x³ + a₂x² + a₁x + a₀. An equation involving a cubic polynomial is called a cubic equation.

A polynomial of degree 1 is called a linear polynomial. Example 4x + 3, 65y are linear polynomials.

A polynomial of degree ‘n’ has at most ‘n’ zeroes because degree of a polynomial is equal to the zeroes of that polynomial only.

The degree of a constant polynomial is 0. e.g. 5 = 5 ×1 = 5×x⁰
