Hot and wet climate is favorable for cultivation of rice. Rice is grown in the months of April to October which includes summer and rainy seasons providing essential hot and wet climate. Hence rice is a kharif crop.

Plantation agriculture is a form of commercial farming where crops are grown for profit. Large land areas are needed for this type of agriculture. Countries that have plantation agriculture usually experience high annual temperatures and receive high annual rainfall.

 Plantation crops include coffee, tea, cocoa, sugarcane etc.

Wheat is a temperate region crop, it requires moderate temperature and rainfall both. Temperature should not exceed above $$20^0C$$ and rainfall should be between $$50-100cm$$ along with frost free growing season.

• The major cotton growing states are Gujarat, Maharashtra, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh which are in the Western and Southern parts of India.

Rabi crops are sown in winter from October to December and harvested in summer from April to June. Some of the important rabi crops are wheat, barley, peas, gram and mustard. Though, these crops are grown in large parts of India, states from the north and northwestern parts such as Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Uttaranchal and Uttar Pradesh are important for the production of wheat and other rabi crops. 

Plantations are large tracts of land or estates used for cultivation of a single agricultural crop like tea, coffee, rubber or spices. Plantations were introduced in India by the Europeans.

India is the largest producer of oilseeds in the world. Different oil seeds are grown covering approximately 12 percent of the total cropped area of the country. The main oil-seeds produced in India are groundnut, mustard, coconut, sesamum (til), soybean, castor seeds, cotton seeds, linseed, and sunflower.

Tea is one of the important cash crops in India. Largest tea producers of India are Assam and West Bengal with 2/3^rd of total production of India.
