    Let the speed of the steamer in still water be x km/hr. Speed of the stream = 1 Km/hr Downstream speed = (x + 1) km/hr Upstream speed = (x - 1) km/hr According to question, 5(x + 1) = 6(x- 1) ⇒ 5x + 5= 6x −6 ⇒5  +6 = 6 x − 5 x ⇒x = 11 Hence, the speed of the steamer in still water is 11 km/hr.
