The table shows the number of cups of four different beverages sold by a coffee shop. What is the angle of sector representing tea in a pie chart?
    Beverage
    Number of cups
    Coffee60
    Tea
    75
     Hot chocolate
    25
    Milk
    40

    Solution
Given table shows the number of cups sold for four different beverages by a coffee shop.
If the given data is represented in a pie chart, the complete angle of the circle is divided into four parts, each representing the number of cups for a particular beverage.
We know that, the complete angle in a circle is $$360^o$$.
Also, total number of cups in the given data $$=60+75+25+40$$
    $$=200$$
Also, number of cups for tea $$=75$$.
Hence, the angle of sector represent tea $$=\dfrac{75}{200}\times 360^o$$.
    $$=135^o$$

Hence, the angle of the sector representing tea in the pie chart is $$135^o$$.

The pie-charts show the distribution of students of IIT's in seven different companies.
How many of TATA and BIRLA are students from IIT?

    Solution

Which experiment has equally likely outcomes?
    Solution
     A) Experiment: Choose a number of at random from $$ 1 $$ to $$ 7$$
$$\Rightarrow $$ All the 7 outcomes are equally likely.

    B) Experiment: Toss a coin
$$\Rightarrow$$ Either the outcome is head or its tail. Both are equally likely.

    C) Roll a die
$$\Rightarrow$$ All the six outcomes are equally likely.

Hence all the above experiments have equally likely outcomes.

Consider the following statements in respect of a histogram:
    1. The histogram consists of vertical rectangular bars with a common base such that there is no gap between consecutive bars.
    2. The height of the rectangle is determined by the frequency of the class it represents.
Which of the statement given above is/are correct?
    Solution

The above graph shows a histogram.
    • The histogram consists of vertical rectangular bars with a common base such that there is no gap between consecutive bars.
    • The area of the rectangle represents the frequency of the corresponding class interval unlike the bar graph where the height represents the frequency
