  • Question 1
    1 / -0
Two plane mirrors at an angle $$({x}^{o})$$ produces $$5$$ images of a point. The number of images produced when $${x}^{0}$$ is decreased to $${(x-30)}^{o}$$ is
    Solution
when aplan mirror's are inclined at an angle $x^{0}$ for number of images we use formula -
    $$\frac{360^{\circ}}{x^{0}}-1=\text { number of images }$$
    apblying it here $$\Rightarrow\quad\frac{360^{\circ}}{x^{0}}-1=5 \Rightarrow \frac{360^{\circ}}{x^{0}}=6$$
    $$\therefore \underline{x^{\circ}=00^{\circ}}$$ by doing $$x_{0}-30^{\circ}$$ ie $$60^{\circ}-30^{\circ}$$
    $$=30^{\circ}$$
     no. of images $$\Rightarrow \frac{360^{\circ}}{30^{\circ}}-1=n \quad \therefore \quad n=11$$
    Hence obtion 'c' is correct.
  • Question 2
    1 / -0
Two plane mirrors are at $$45^{o}$$ to each other. If an object is placed between them then the number of images will be:
    Solution

    Given that,

    Angle $$\theta ={{45}^{0}}$$

    We know that,

    The Number of image is

      $$ =\dfrac{2\pi }{\phi }-1 $$

     $$ =\dfrac{2\times 4\pi }{\pi }-1 $$

     $$ =8-1 $$

     $$ =7 $$

Hence, the number of image is $$7$$

  • Question 3
    1 / -0
__________ energy gives us the sensation of vision.
    Solution
Light energy gives us the sensation of vision.
When light from an object enters our eyes then we see the object. The light may have been emitted by the object or may have been reflected by it.
  • Question 4
    1 / -0
    Image formation takes place by:
    Solution
When all the parallel rays reflected from a plane surface are not parallel, the reflection is known as diffused or irregular reflection.
The reflection from a smooth surface like that of a mirror is called regular reflection.
Images are formed by regular reflection.
  • Question 5
    1 / -0
If you read the words of your book, the reflection is
    Solution
Diffuse reflection is the reflection of light or other waves or particles from a surface such that a ray incident on the surface is scattered at many angles rather than at just one angle as in the case of specular reflection. Diffuse reflection is observed in rough surfaces like paper, card board etc.

  • Question 6
    1 / -0
The image of an object is formed due to the _________ of light rays by the eye lens on the retina.
    Solution
The image of an object is formed due to the refraction of light rays by the eye lens on the retina.
  • Question 7
    1 / -0
    Diffused reflection
    Solution
Diffuse reflection occurs when light reflects off a rough surface and forms a blurry image or no image at all.
Hence (A) may produce image is correct option.

  • Question 8
    1 / -0
Light passes through a prism as shown. The light changes direction and produces a spectrum of colours. Which term is used to describe the production of the spectrum of colours?

    Solution
With the help of a narrow beam of light, a glass prism, and a white wall it is possible to produce the band of seven colors using white light. Keep this arrangement near the window. Place the glass prism in such manner that the sunlight through the window falls on one side of the prism and then on the white wall.

You can see that the light reflected on the wall has several colors. The prism splits the white light into seven different colors. This splitting of white light into many colors is called as a dispersion of light.$$  Dispersion$$ is nothing but splitting of white light into its constituents colors.i.e into seven different colors.

The seven colors are violet, indigo, blue, green, yellow, orange, and red (VIBGYOR). The pattern of color which is obtained is called as a spectrum.  Sometimes in the rainbow, you may not see all the seven colors. This is because of the colors overlap each other.
  • Question 9
    1 / -0
Two plane mirrors are placed at some angle. There are five images formed, when an object is placed symmetrically between them, the angle between the mirrors is:
    Solution
Formula for number of images formed:
    $$n=\dfrac{360^o}{\theta}-1$$
where $$\theta$$ (in degree) is the angle between the two inclined mirror.
    So,
    $$n+1=\dfrac{360^o}{\theta}$$

    Given: $$n=5$$
    $$\Rightarrow 5+1=\dfrac{360^o}{\theta}$$
    $$\Rightarrow 6= \dfrac{360^o}{\theta}$$
    $$\Rightarrow \theta = 60^o$$

    Option A is correct.
  • Question 10
    1 / -0
If for angle of incidence, the incident ray and reflected ray from two mirrors be parallel to each other, then angle between two plane mirrors will be?
    Solution
Let us consider $$P$$ and $$R$$ are two mirrors with angle $$\theta$$
Let the incident angle of $$P = \theta_{1}$$
Let the incident angle of $$R = \theta_{2}$$
    Now $$2\theta_{1} + 2\theta_{2} = 180 = \theta_{1} + \theta_{2} = 90^{\circ}$$
    $$\Rightarrow \theta_{1} + \theta + \theta_{2} = 180^{\circ}$$
    $$\Rightarrow 90 + \theta = 180^{\circ} = \theta = 90^{\circ}$$
Hence the option B is right answer.
