Kitab ul-Hind is the famous book written by the scholar Al-Biruni.

The sangha originated in the group of disciples(bhikkus) who renounced the worldly life to wander with the Buddha and listen to his teachings. After the Buddha's death his disciples continued to live together as a community, wandering from place to place, living off the receipt of alms.

The first dynasty, the Sangama, lasted until about 1485, when-at a time of pressure from the Bahmanī sultan and the raja of Orissa-Narasimha of the Saluva family usurped power. By 1503 the Saluva dynasty had been supplanted by the Tuluva dynasty.

Endogamy was popular under the Satavahanas' reign.

Names originating from a king's mother are known as metronymic.

Gotras, a Brahmanical practice, were used to classify people.

Women were expected to give up their father's gotra and accept their husbands, and marriages between members of the same gotra were forbidden.

Satavahana brides, on the other hand, inherited their father's gotra and, for the most part, shared it with their husbands.

Even though the use of metronymic implies that women were valued, historians have been unable to reach a definitive judgement because the royal succession was predominantly male primogeniture.

Under the sukthankar a team prepared a critical edition of the Mahabharata. Collecting Sanskrit Manuscripts of the text. Written in a variety of scripts. Ultimately they selected the verses that were common to most versions.

The Gateway of India is an arch-monument built in the early 20th century in the city of Mumbai, India. It was erected to commemorate the landing of King-Emperor George V, the first British monarch to visit India, in December 1911 at Ramchandani Road near Shyamaprasad Mukherjee Chowk.

The Lottery Committee was set up in 1817 after the departure of Lord Wellesley. It carried on the work of town planning of city of Calcutta with the help of the government. It was named as the Lottery Committee because it raised funds through public lotteries. However, it used these funds for the improvement of the town.

One Brahmanical practice, evident from c. 1000 BCE onwards, was to classify people (especially Brahmanas) in terms of gotras. Each gotra was named after a Vedic seer, and all those who belonged to the same gotra were regarded as his descendants.
