  • Question 1
    1 / -0

A solution of syrup has 15% water. Another solution has 35% water. How many litres of the first solution must be added to the 40L of second solution to make a solution of 23% water?

    Solution

In first solution of syrup quantity of water = 15%

In second solution syrup quantity of water = 35%

Let, x litres of first solution must be added.

    According to the question,

Total litres of first solution×15% water +Total litres of second solution × 35% water = (Total litres of first solution +Total litres of second solution)× 23% water

    ⇒ \(x \times(\frac{15}{100})+40 \times(\frac{35}{100})=(x+40) \times(\frac{23}{100})\)

    \(\Rightarrow 0.15 x+14=0.23 x+9.2\)\(\Rightarrow x=60\)

  • Question 2
    1 / -0

Raktim can complete \(\frac{7}{16}\) part of a work in 21 days, then he complete the remaining with the help of Puja in \(18\) days. How many days will be needed to complete the total work by Raktim and Puja together?

    Solution

    Given,

Raktim can complete \(\frac{7}{16}\) part of a work in = \(21\) days

Raktim and Puja can complete the remaining work together in = \(18\) days

Let Raktim and Puja together can complete the total work in X days.

    Remaining work \(=(1-\frac{7}{16})=\frac{9}{16}\)

Raktim and Puja can do the remaining work together in \(18\) days.

    Raktim and Puja 1 day's work \(=\frac{9}{(16 \times 18)}=\frac{1}{ 32}\)

Raktim and Puja can complete the total work together in = \(32\) days

∴ Time needed to complete the remaining work is \(32\) days.

  • Question 3
    1 / -0

Direction: The following question is accompanied by three statements I, II and III. You have to determine which statements(s) is/are sufficient/necessary to answer the following question.

What is the total surface area of the conical cap?

    I. The ratio of the height of the Cap to the height of the cylindrical drum is 5 : 8.

II. Height of the cylindrical drum is twice the perimeter of the square whose area is 144 cm2.

III. The diameter of the conical cap is equal to the thrice the breadth of the rectangle whose perimeter is 84 cm.

    Solution

    From statement I:

    \(\frac{\text { Height of cone }}{\text { Height of the cylinder }}=\frac{5}{8}\)

Statement I alone is not sufficient to answer the question.

    From statement II:

    Area of the square = 144 cm2

⇒ Side of the square = 12 cm

    Perimeter of the square = 12 × 4 = 48 cm

    ⇒ Height of the cylinder = 2 × 48 = 96 cm

Statement II alone is not sufficient to answer the question.

    From statement III:

Diameter of the cone = 3 × breadth of the rectangle

    Perimeter of the rectangle = 2 × (l + b) = 84 cm

    ∵ Breadth cannot be determined.

⇒ Statement III alone is not sufficient to answer the question.

If we combine all the statements, we can determine the height of the cone but not the radius or the slant height.

∴ None statement is sufficient to answer.

Hence, the correct option is (E).

  • Question 4

    Directions For Questions

Direction: In the given line diagram selling of shoe has shown in figure in four different cities like Delhi , Mumbai , Allahabad , Kanpur for two consecutive year 2014 and 2015.

    ...view full instructions

Total no of shoes sale in Kanpur and Mumbai is what percent of total number of sale of shoe in Allahabad and Delhi for two year?

    Solution

Total number of shoes sale in Kanpur and Mumbai = 350 + 550 = 900

Total number of shoes sale in Allahabad and Delhi = 800 + 900 = 1700

    ∴ Required percentage \(= \frac{900 }{1700} \times 100= 52.94\%\)

What is the ratio of the total sales of Kanpur store for two years to the total sales of Mumbai store for two years?

    Solution

    Total sale of Kanpur store for two year = 200 + 150 = 350

    Total sale of Mumbai store for two year = 250 + 300 = 550

    ∴ Ratio \(= \frac{350}{ 550} = 0.636\)

What is the ratio of the average sale of all four places in 2014 to the average sale of all four places in 2015?

    Solution

Average sale of all four year in 2014 \(=\frac{1250}{ 4}=312.5\)

Average sale of all four year in 2015 \(=\frac{1350}{4}=337.5\)

    \(\therefore\) Required ratio is \(=\frac{312.5}{337.5}=0.926\)
