  • Question 2
    1 / -0

In this question, two statements are followed by conclusions numbered I and II. Consider the two statements to be true, even if they seem to be at variance from the commonly known facts and then decide which of the conclusions logically follow(s) from the two statements.

    Statements:
    Education is light.
    Might is light.

    Conclusions:
    I. Education is might.
    II. Might is education.

    Solution

From the statements above, neither conclusion I nor conclusion II follows. So, option (4) is the correct answer.

  • Question 3
    1 / -0

In this question, two statements are followed by conclusions numbered I and II. Consider the two statements to be true, even if they seem to be at variance from the commonly known facts and then decide which of the conclusions logically follow(s) from the two statements.

    Statements:
    Few paintings are sketches.
    Few sketches are drawings.

    Conclusions:
    I. Some drawings being paintings is a possibility.
II. No sketch is a painting.

    Solution

    Conclusion I is true.
    Conclusion II is not true.

  • Question 4
    1 / -0

In this question, two statements are followed by conclusions numbered 1 and 2. Consider the two statements to be true, even if they seem to be at variance from the commonly known facts and then decide which of the conclusions logically follow(s) from the two statements.

    Statements:
    Some Asians are Africans.
    All Africans are Europeans.

    Conclusions:
    I. All Asians are Europeans is a possibility.
II. Some Asians are surely Europeans.

    Solution

Conclusions I and II follow from the given statements.

  • Question 11
    1 / -0

Read the following information and answer the given question.

A cuboid of dimensions 4 cm × 3 cm × 3 cm is painted yellow on the pair of opposite faces of dimensions 4 cm × 3 cm. The two opposite faces of dimensions 4 cm × 3 cm are painted red and the two remaining faces of dimensions 3 cm × 3 cm are painted green. Now, the cuboid is cut into small cubes, each of dimensions 1 cm × 1 cm × 1 cm.

How many small cubes will have only one painted face?

    Solution

The sides painted red have 2 cubes in between which are painted with single colour. Hence, for both the sides, total number of cubes which are painted with single colour = 2 × 2 = 4 cubes
Same is the case with the yellow sides. Hence, for both the sides, total number of cubes which are painted with single colour = 2 × 2 = 4 cubes
In case of green sides, only one cube in the middle has one side painted.
So, for both sides, total number of cubes which are painted with single colour = 1 × 2 = 2 cubes
    Required total number of cubes = 4 + 4 + 2 = 10

  • Question 12
    1 / -0

Study the following information carefully and answer the question that follows.

A cube having a volume of 216 cm3 is painted red on two opposite sides, black on the other two opposite sides and green on the remaining two opposite sides. It is then cut into cubes with sides of 1 cm each.

How many cubes have no sides painted?

    Solution

    Volume of a cube = (Side)3 = 216 cm3
    Side = 6 cm
Number of small cubes that will have no sides painted = (x - 2)3
    Here, x = (6/1) = 6
    So, number of small cubes that will have no sides painted = (6 - 2)3 = 43 = 64

  • Question 13
    1 / -0

Read the following passage to answer the given question.

Anita, Mahima, Rajan, Lata and Deepti are five cousins. Anita is twice as old as Mahima. Rajan's age is half that of Mahima. Anita's age is half that of Deepti and Rajan's age is twice that of Lata.

Which of the following persons are of the same age?

    Solution

Clearly, no two persons in the group are of the same age.
The ages of Anita, Mahima, Rajan, Lata and Deepti will be as under.
The age of Mahima = X
The age of Anita = 2X
The age of Deepti = 4X

So, no two people will be of the same age.

  • Question 14
    1 / -0

Read the following passage to answer the question.

Anita, Mahima, Rajan, Lata and Deepti are five cousins. Anita is twice as old as Mahima. Rajan's age is half that of Mahima's age. Anita's age is half that of Deepti's age and Rajan's age is twice that of Lata's age.

    Anita is younger than

    Solution

    Let Mahima's age be x. Then, Anita's age = 2x, Rajan's age = x/2, Deepti's age = 4x and Lata's age = x/4
So, the descending order of ages is Deepti > Anita > Mahima > Rajan > Lata.
    Lata is the youngest.
    Anita is younger than Deepti.

  • Question 15
    1 / -0

Read the following passage to answer the question.

Anita, Mahima, Rajan, Lata and Deepti are five cousins. Anita is twice as old as Mahima. Rajan's age is half that of Mahima. Anita's age is half that of Deepti and Rajan's age is twice that of Lata.

    Who is the youngest?
