  • Question 1
    4 / -1

Direction: These questions are based on the information given below:

    Each question has two equations.

    Mark [1], if x < y

    Mark [2], if x > y

    Mark [3], if x ≤ y

    Mark [4], if x = y or if a relationship cannot be established between x and y

    (A) x2 = 49
    (B) y – 2 = 5

    Solution

  • Question 2
    4 / -1

Direction: These questions are based on the information given below:

    Each question has two equations.

    Mark [1], if x < y

    Mark [2], if x > y

    Mark [3], if x ≤ y

    Mark [4], if x = y or if a relationship cannot be established between x and y

    (A) 3x + 4y = 21
    (B) 4x + 5y = 27

    Solution

  • Question 3
    4 / -1

    Write the solution of inequality \(\frac{1}{5}\left(\frac{3 x}{5}+4\right) \geq \frac{1}{3}(x-6) ?\)

    Solution

    Given:

    \(\frac{1}{5}\left(\frac{3 x}{5}+4\right) \geq \frac{1}{3}(x-6)\)

    \(\Rightarrow 3\left(\frac{3 x}{5}+4\right) \geq 5(x-6)\)

    \(\Rightarrow\left(\frac{9 x}{5}+12\right) \geq 5 x-30\)

    \(\Rightarrow(30+12) \geq-\frac{9 x}{5}+5 x\)

    \(\Rightarrow 42 \geq \frac{-9 x+25 x}{5}\)

    \(\Rightarrow 42 \geq \frac{16 x}{5}\)

    \(\Rightarrow \frac{42 \times 5}{16} \geq x\)

    \(\therefore x \leq \frac{105}{8}\)

  • Question 4
    4 / -1

Direction: These questions are based on the information given below:

    Each question has two equations.

    Mark [1], if x < y

    Mark [2], if x > y

    Mark [3], if x ≤ y

    Mark [4], if x = y or if a relationship cannot be established between x and y

    (A) x + 4y = 19
    (B) 5x – 2y = 7

    Solution

  • Question 5
    4 / -1

How many pairs of x and y satisfy 2x+4y=12 and 8x+12y=39?

    Solution

    2x+4y=12……….Eq I

    8x+12y=39………..Eq II

Multiplying Eq I by 3, we get

    6x+12y= 36

Solving Eq I and II, we get x=3/2 and y=9/4

And when we plot these two lines on XY plane, they intersect only at one point(3/2, 9/4). Therefore, one pair of x and y satisfy the given equations.

  • Question 6
    4 / -1

    If 2 : 5 is the sub-duplicate ratio of p : q, find the duplicate ratio of p : q

    Solution

  • Question 7
    4 / -1

The number of distinct prime factors of 26741

    Solution

    26741 = 17 x 13 x 11 x 11

    There are 3 distinct prime factors, i.e. 17, 13 and 11

    Hence mark Option b

  • Question 8
    4 / -1

    If 1.532x = 0.1532y = 10z, then find the relationship between x, y and z.

    Solution

  • Question 9
    4 / -1

The price of a mobile is increased by 30% and then decreased by 30%. Find the percentage change in the prices of a mobile.

    Solution

Let the price of the mobile be Rs.100

Increasing it by 30%, i.e. Rs.30, we get the total price as Rs.130

Now, decreasing the increased price, i.e. Rs.130, by 30%, we get

    = 130 – 39

    = Rs.91

∴ Overall the price is decreased by 9% (of the actual marked price, i.e. Rs.100)

    Hence mark option d

  • Question 10
    4 / -1

By selling an article for Rs.616, a shopkeeper incurs a loss of 20%. At what price should he sell so as to gain 15%?

    Solution

The selling price of the article is Rs.616

Let the cost price be Rs. x

He sold at a loss of 20%, i.e. 80% of the cost price = selling price
