CBSE Board 10th Result 2021 : Board Shares Moderation Parameters With Schools, Full Details Here

CBSE 10th Result 2021 calculation work is already underway in various schools. In continuation with the policy, the board has also shared the parameters with schools for moderation. Here is how it would work.

Central Board of Secondary Education, CBSE has shared the moderation parameters with various schools for the calculation of the CBSE 10th Result 2021. As per the official notice released earlier, the board has shared the brackets on which the marks of the students would have to be moderated on. This step has been taken to provide a standardized and more unbiased result for the students.

The result calculation work is underway and the board has clarified that schools need not call teachers to the school. The committee members have been instructed to meet online to discuss the results. With the deadlines still in place and information shared by the board, schools are required to compute the result and share the same by June 5 with CBSE. Results are scheduled to be released on June 20.

CBSE 10th Result 2021: What is moderation and how it would determine the result

Moderation, simply put, is a process by means of which the board adjusts the marks scored by students basis a general parameter. This varies from the difficulty level of the paper to the general performance of students in a given district, school, or even national level in a particular subject. For this year, the board has decided to refer to historical data for moderation policy.

On the basis of the same, CBSE has shared with schools the historical performance of students in various subjects based on theory marks in the past three years. The year-wise average of total marks of main subjects has been then calculated and the year with the highest average has been taken as a reference year. Once that is determined, CBSE has then shared a percentage range of candidates in various brackets.

For example, a school had the best performance in 2020 and the percentage range of candidates for 5 main subjects was as given below

Subject >26 26 to 40 40 to 50 50 to 60 60 to 70 70 to 80
Main Subject 8.42 14.73 11.58 15.09 16.49 33.68

In simpler words, say there are a total of 100 students in Class 10 in a school. The school is to ensure that there are only 8 students in less than 26 marks, 15 in 26 to 40 marks, and so on. The division has been shared by the board and schools are required to comply with the same.
