The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has released important instructions for Class 10 students. The board has introduced a mandatory section-wise structure for Science and Social Science board exams 2026. Students must follow this format in both question papers and answer books.
CBSE made this change to improve evaluation quality. In previous exams, many students mixed answers across subjects. This created problems for examiners while checking papers and awarding marks correctly.
New Section-Wise Structure for CBSE Class 10 Exams
As per the official notice, Science and Social Science papers will have separate sections. Students must create the same sections in their answer books before writing answers.
CBSE Class 10 Science Paper Structure
| Section | Subject Area |
|---|---|
| Section A | Biology |
| Section B | Chemistry |
| Section C | Physics |
CBSE Class 10 Social Science Paper Structure
| Section | Subject Area |
|---|---|
| Section A | History |
| Section B | Geography |
| Section C | Political Science |
| Section D | Economics |
Important Rules for Answer Writing
CBSE has issued strict guidelines for writing answers. Students must follow these rules carefully:
- Write answers only within the dedicated space for each section.
- Don't mix answers from different sections.
- Create clearly labelled sections in your answer book before starting.
- Maintain separation between sections throughout the exam.
What Happens If You Mix Answers?
CBSE has warned students about serious consequences. If answers are mixed across sections, they won't be evaluated. No marks will be awarded for such responses.
The board also clarified that these mistakes won't be corrected during verification or revaluation. Students must understand this format well before the exam.
Instructions for Schools and Teachers
CBSE has directed schools to prepare students for this new format. Teachers should:
- Include these rules in regular classroom activities.
- Follow the same structure in Pre-Board exams.
- Help students practise section-wise answer writing.
This practice will help students avoid losing marks due to structural errors.
