The Central Board of Secondary Education or CBSE is a national level board in India. It is responsible for secondary and higher secondary education in the country. Every year it conducts the Class 10 and Class 12 board exams for all schools affiliated to the board. It also monitors and maintains the quality of education from Class 1 to Class 12 in CBSE affiliated schools. The exams for Class 1 to Class 9 and Class 11 are, however, conducted by the respective schools. The guidelines of the exams, like the syllabus and marking scheme, are set up by CBSE.
Students of Class 8 in CBSE affiliated schools follow the NCERT curriculum as per the recommendations of the board. The Alternative Academic Calendar has been released by NCERT keeping in mind the current times of school closures and online learning due to on-going national lockdown.

The classes on Physical Education for one to eight will start from the academic session April 2019
The students of class 1 to 8 in all CBSE affiliated schools will now have a period on Health and Physical Education on a daily basis from this academic session. The same was made compulsory for classes 9 to 12 in all the schools under CBSE last year. The classes on Physical Education will start from the academic session in April 2019.
“The board has decided to implement Health and Physical Education (HPE) programme for Classes one to eight w.e.f. session 2019-20 onwards, with the aim of holistic development of the child, leading to a well-balanced in all walks of life,” read the official notification.
“The revised and updated transactional strategies, detailed guidelines and methodology for administering HPE (Health and Physical Education) to students will be available on CBSE website shortly,” the circular reads.

The courses will carry 100 marks and the board will conduct practical exams to assess students.
