CUET UG 2026: NTA Issues Advisory Over Photo Mismatch – Correction Window Opens at cuet.nta.nic.in

The National Testing Agency (NTA) has issued a notification regarding discrepancies in the photographs submitted by candidates for the Common University Entrance Test (CUET (UG) 2026).

According to the notice, the CUET (UG) 2026 examination is scheduled to be held from May 11 to May 31, 2026. The application process was completed between January 3 and February 4, 2026, and the correction window remained open from February 23 to February 26.

During the verification process, the NTA observed that some candidates had submitted identity cards other than the Aadhaar card; furthermore, in numerous instances, the photographs submitted during the application process did not match the photographs available in the official records of the UIDAI. This discrepancy has raised concerns regarding identity verification.

To address this issue, the agency has provided the affected candidates with an opportunity to verify their identities.

Candidates are required to upload a recent photograph accompanied by a signed and verified certificate. This certificate must be verified by the Principal or Headmaster of their school or college; alternatively, if these officials are unavailable, it may be verified by a Class I Gazetted Officer, such as a Tehsildar, SDM, or District Magistrate.

For Non-Resident Indian (NRI) candidates, a certificate issued by an official of the Indian Embassy will be accepted.

CUET UG 2026: Deadline and Submission Process

Candidates must upload the certificate in PDF format via a link sent to their registered email IDs between April 7 and April 10, 2026. Additionally, they are required to carry a printed copy of the same document to the examination center on the day of the exam for physical verification.

The NTA has urged candidates to regularly visit its official website for updates and to contact the help desk for any clarifications.

This initiative aims to ensure a fair and secure examination process while providing candidates with the opportunity to resolve these discrepancies without forfeiting their chance to appear for the CUET (UG) 2026 examination.
