There are four categories of institutions that participate in WBJEE Exam :

• Category 1: State University/ University Depts.
• Category 2: Govt. Engg./ Technology/ Pharmacy Colleges
• Category 3: Pvt. & Self-Financing Engg./ Tech./ Pharmacy Colleges
• Category 4: Pvt. & Self- Financing Universities

Apart from the general WBJEE Reservation criteria, participating institutes offer their distinct reservation criteria, which candidates can take advantage of during WBJEE 2023 Counselling.

WBJEE Reservation 2023

Depending on the category of participating institutes, WBJEE reservation 2023 for such category of candidates shall be available following the guidelines tabulated below:

Important Note(s):

• Reserved category seats in WBJEE 2023 are exclusively available to students domiciled in West Bengal.
• To claim these seats, candidates must submit relevant certificates from competent authorities during counselling.
• It is crucial to produce valid certificates at the time of counselling; otherwise, admission under the reserved category will be forfeited.
• In such cases, candidates will be automatically transferred to the general category, and this facility will be applicable from the 2nd round of counselling.
• The final decision of the Counsellor will be binding.

WBJEE Reservation 2023 for SC/ST Candidates

SC/ST candidates must adhere to specific guidelines while claiming WBJEE Reservation 2023. To avail the benefits, the required certificates must be issued by any of the following authorities:"

1. The various officers/authorities of Kolkata that issue the certificate to prove the WBJEE Reservation 2023 of the candidate is mentioned below:

•  Deputy Collector of Land Revenue, Kolkata
• Collector of Stamp Revenue, Kolkata
• Metropolitan Magistrate, Kolkata
• Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate, Kolkata
• Chief Metropolitan Magistrate, Kolkata
• 1st Class Stipendiary Magistrate
• Executive Magistrate
• Sub-divisional Magistrate
• Sub-divisional Officer
• Deputy Collector
• Additional District Magistrate
• Collector
• District Magistrate within their respective local jurisdictions – if candidates reside ordinarily within such jurisdictions.

2. The various competent authorities in West Bengal that issue the reservation certificate for the SC/ST candidates are given below:

•  Deputy Director, Backward Classes Welfare Directorate, W.B.
• Commissioner, Backward classes welfare W.B. – if candidates reside ordinarily in any part of West Bengal.

For SC/ST candidates seeking WBJEE reservation in 2023, it is essential to upload the required certificates issued by the aforementioned authorities. These certificates must be issued prior to the online application submission date. Certificates issued at a later date will not be considered valid for admission during WBJEE Counselling.

WBJEE Reservation 2023 for OBC-A/ OBC-B Candidates

• In the district, the Sub Divisional Officer of a Sub-Division is the authorized certificate issuing authority for OBC category candidates. However, in Kolkata, the certificate is issued by an officer authorized by the State Government.
• For candidates seeking OBC-A/OBC-B quota in WBJEE 2023, the required certificates from the aforementioned authorities must be uploaded and issued prior to the actual online application submission. Certificates issued at a later date will not be considered valid for admission during WBJEE Counselling.

WBJEE Reservation 2023 for PwD (Persons with Disabilities) Candidates

Candidates with physical disabilities are eligible to appear for WBJEE 2023 and can claim reservation under the PwD category. The criteria for availing WBJEE Reservation 2023 through the PwD category for different categories are as follows:

• For admission to B.E/B. Tech/B. Arch/B. Pharm Courses

Candidates with a minimum of 40% disability related to Locomotor disorder, Visual impairment, Speech & Hearing Impairment can avail reservation under the PwD category. However, it is essential that they can perform both practical and theory work without any special concessions or exemptions.

• For Admission to MBBS/BDS Courses

1. Candidates with a Loco-motor disability of at least 50-70% in the lower limb can claim reservation under the PwD category.
2. If earmarked quota seats remain vacant due to a lack of candidates with 50%-70% locomotor disability, these seats will be filled by candidates with a locomotor disability of lower limbs between 40% to less than 50%.
3. Candidates with disabilities other than locomotor disabilities are not eligible for WBJEE Reservation 2023.
4. The PwD certificate must be issued by authorized medical authorities, such as Officer-in-Charge or Medical Head of designated healthcare facilities.
5. During WBJEE 2023 Counselling, all certificates will be verified by the Medical Board at IPGMR / SSKM Hospital.

WBJEE Reservation 2023 for Candidates under Minority Quota

• For admission through WBJEE 2023, 50% of the approved seats are available for minority candidates in the higher Technical Education Institutes, which have been granted the Minority Status.
• Though, minority category candidates may seek admission in the government-approved minority institutes against specified minority quota notified by the State Government of West Bengal.

WBJEE Reservation 2023 for Candidates under Defence Quota

To claim the defence quota in WBJEE 2023, candidates must apply to Rajya Sainik Board through the concerned Zila Sainik Board of West Bengal (for ex-servicemen) and Units (for serving soldiers) using the prescribed form. Along with this application, an attested copy of WBJEE 2023 Admit Card must be submitted. Unlike other quotas, the defence quota certificate should not be uploaded online but presented during offline counselling.

The allocation of seats under Defence Quota does not occur through e-counselling. Instead, a separate merit list for offline counselling and seat allotment under the defence quota is published by the WBJEEB.

A total of 9 seats are reserved under the defence quota, with seven seats reserved for various courses in Govt. Engineering & Technology Colleges and the remaining two seats reserved in Jadavpur University. The specific courses for these reserved seats in Jadavpur University will be determined by the university authority.

WBJEE Reservation 2023 for JEE Main Candidates

• During the e-counselling process, the seat allotment is based on the candidate's merit and the preference of the institution they have mentioned.
• JEE Main merit-listed candidates must meet the eligibility and other criteria specified for various degree-level courses under WBJEE.
• Unlike other quotas, candidates are not required to be domiciled in West Bengal to avail of this reservation

WBJEE 2023 Management Quota

Management quota is applicable for B.E./B.Tech./B.Pharm/B.Arch. courses in Self-Financing Colleges of the State and for courses offered on a self-financing basis under the University Institute of Technology, Burdwan University. However, the university reserves the right to not admit students under this quota.

In the management quota, a maximum of 10% of sanctioned seats may be filled directly by the institution's management. Eligibility criteria, such as academic qualifications, citizenship, age restrictions, etc., are specified for admission to degree-level Engineering/Technology, Pharmacy, and Architecture courses under the Management Quota. Importantly, candidates are not required to be domiciled in West Bengal to avail of this quota.
