The Xavier Aptitude Test (XAT) 2025 took place on January 5, 2025, with a question paper ranging from moderate to difficult. The verbal ability and logical reasoning (VALR) section was moderate, while the decision-making paper was more challenging. Experts suggest the XAT 2025 cut-off may be lower than the 2024 cut-off, given the difficulty level.

What Affects XAT 2025 Cut-offs?

As per the official website, the XAT cut-offs depend on:

  1. The number of candidates taking the exam.
  2. The difficulty level of the question paper.
  3. The availability of seats in top programmes.

This year, the exam had 95 questions spread across five sections, and candidates had 180 minutes to complete it. A notable change was that there was no essay writing this time, and the number of General Knowledge (GK) questions was reduced from 25 to 20.In the Verbal Ability and Logical Reasoning (VALR) section, students found it easier than in previous years. T

hose who answered 16-18 questions correctly can expect a good score. The Decision Making (DM) section was rated as moderate to difficult, similar to past exams. Candidates who attempted 12-14 questions accurately are likely to do well here. The Quantitative Ability and Data Interpretation (QADI) section was also considered moderate to difficult. It included new types of questions, such as problems based on probability and a cartoon-based data interpretation question.

This year, there were no questions about time and work. The General Knowledge (GK) section was easier overall, with most questions being easy to moderate; aiming for 10-11 correct answers is a good goal.Feedback from students varied.

Amitabh Kumar from Kolkata described the exam as moderate to difficult, while Gaurav Sharma, also from Kolkata, found it easier to moderate. Some key changes in XAT 2025 included the removal of essay writing and the introduction of new question formats in both the QADI and GK sections.

Top colleges that accept XAT 2025 scores include XLRI Jamshedpur, XIME Bengaluru, St. Xavier’s University Kolkata, XIM Bhubaneswar, and XIDAS Jabalpur.Overall, candidates who managed their time well and focused on answering accurately are likely to do well. As you prepare for future exams, keep an eye on any changes in formats and practice different types of questions to boost your chances of success.
