The XAT 2025 exam took place on January 5, 2025, organized by the Xavier School of Management (formerly known as XLRI). This year, the exam was held in about 75 cities, and more than 130,000 candidates participated. The test was conducted in one shift from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM.In this article, we will explore the XAT 2025 exam in detail. We’ll cover how difficult it was, how many people took it, good attempts, and the types of questions asked in each section.

Overall Exam Difficulty

From what students have shared, the XAT 2025 exam was generally moderate to difficult. Many candidates found some questions to be long and tricky.

Section-wise Exam Analysis

Let’s break down the exam by section based on student feedback and expert opinions. The overall difficulty level varied from moderate to tough. Here’s how each section performed:

VALR (Verbal Ability and Logical Reasoning) Analysis

The VALR section included 26 questions that tested skills in verbal ability, reading comprehension, and logical reasoning. This section had questions on critical reasoning, reading comprehension (with poems and passages), vocabulary, grammar, and exercises like para jumbles and cloze tests.Many students felt that the VALR section was easier than last year. The reading comprehension part featured four passages with four questions each, which most candidates found manageable.

DM (Decision Making) Analysis

The DM section had 21 questions focused on decision-making skills. This year’s DM section was considered moderate to difficult. The questions tested critical thinking, problem-solving abilities, and prioritization skills needed for making decisions. Some students found certain questions to be tricky.

QADI (Quantitative Aptitude and Data Interpretation) Analysis

The QADI section contained 28 questions covering topics like arithmetic, algebra, geometry, mensuration, and modern mathematics. Questions related to data interpretation required candidates to analyze data carefully. Some of these questions were noted to be tricky and lengthy.

GK (General Knowledge) Analysis

The GK section had 20 questions, with about eight focused on static general knowledge and twelve on current affairs. Overall, this section was seen as easy to moderate in difficulty.

XAT 2025 Number of Good Attempts

As per the feedback from the test-takers and analysis of experts, the overall number of good attempts for a decent score and good percentile mark at 50 to 55 attempts of the total questions with 10% accuracy. In terms of section-wise Good Attempts; for VALR, which was a relatively easy section, an attempt of 13 to 15 questions should make one feel comfortable. In DM, which was quite tricky, the number of good attempts would be around 10 to 12 out of the total 22. While in the QADI section, a good attempt would be around 12 to 14 questions.
