BSE Odisha Announces Classes 10, 9 Assessment Criteria for 2023-24; MCQs Get 50% Weightage

The Board of Secondary Education, Odisha, has announced the assessment criteria for Class 10 and 9 for the academic session 2023-24. As per the criteria, BSE Odisha Class 10 summative examination will have 50:50 weightage for multiple-choice questions and subjective questions.

As per the latest update, the Odisha Board will conduct one summative examination with 100 marks in each Class 10 HSC subject. The question paper will have 50 MCQs and the remaining 50 questions will be subjective in nature.

The board will continue to hold internal assessments as usual in the form of four formative assessments, one in each quarter. “One year ending examination will also be conducted for the Madhyama course, out of 100/75 marks having 50/40 marks of MCQs and 50/35 markS of subjective questions,” the official order read.

Odisha Board Classes 10 and 9 exam pattern will be issued soon on the official website, bseodisha.ac.in. Similar procedure will be followed for Class 9, in both the courses ie, HSC and Madhyama.

For the year-end examination of BSE Odisha Class 9 and half yearly examination of Class 10, the board will prepare the question papers and supply the same to the district education officer of each district. The district education officer will be responsible for distributing the question paper to each school and supervising the exam.

Questions will be supplied to all the schools of the State to maintain uniformity in the examination. For Class 9, processing and publication of results will be done at the school level. However, the date of examination will be announced by the board.

Class 10 students who failed in one or two subjects will be allowed to appear in the supplementary exams like the previous years. “Aspirational components would also be part of the internal assessments,” the board added. This year, the Odisha board declared the Class 10 results 2023 on May 18. The overall pass percentage was recorded at 96.40%.
