A petition has been filed in the Supreme Court by the CBSE and CISCE Board students against holding the class 10th and 12th term 1 exam in offline mode. Students Demand Exams In Hybrid Mode (a mix of both online and offline), meaning they want to have the option to give exams in offline or online mode.
The ICSE Class 10 and ISC Class 12 annual exam for term 1 will start from November 15, 2021, and CBSE Term 1 exam is scheduled to be held from November 16 for minor subjects.
What does Plea say?
Plea mentioned that exams for major subjects are spread over three weeks in December 2021, the petitioners are worried about the risk of infection. It was filed by six students through Advocate Sumanth Nookala. He said that exams taken in offline mode will increase the risk of COVID infection and it is a violation of Right to Health.
The option to appear in the exam in an online mode will facilitate social distancing. It will also reduce strain on logistical constraints.
The petitioners also have argued that consent is being secured by resorting to misrepresentation and coercion. consent to conduct exams without giving a valid choice is not right and should not happen.
