NEET MBBS Counselling : Only One Chance to Choose Medical College
The National Medical Commission (NMC) has drafted changes to the Graduate Medical Education Rules (GMER). Under this, students will be allowed to choose their preferred college only in the first round of counseling for MBBS admission.
It is understood that the reason behind this change is to ensure that maximum seats are filled during the three rounds of online counselling. Opinions of various parties have been sought on the draft.
Last year, even after three rounds of online counselling, 4299 MBBS, 1280 BDS and 352 BSC Nursing seats remained vacant. It consists of Round-1, Round-2 and Measurement-up round. After this, the fourth stray round would be done, which would not be online. After this, there have been complaints of disturbances in the process.
English Compulsory
Many states including Madhya Pradesh are promoting medical studies in Hindi, but in this draft English subject remains compulsory in class 12 to appear in NEET UG.
Transfer in Special Circumstances
Under special circumstances, in the first year, a student will be able to transfer himself from a government college to a government college and from a non-government college to a non-government college.
On Eequal Marks in Neet
The new draft states that a mechanism has been put in place when more than one candidate has the same score. Under this, the highest marks in the order of Biology, Chemistry and Physics will be taken as the basis. If there is no decision on this also there will be a computer draw.
