JEE Main 2019 - Exam Date, Syllabus, Exam Pattern
As per JEE Main 2019 latest news, NTA has made changes in Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main 2019 dates. The JEE Main Jan 2019 will be held from January 06 to 20, 2019, only. However, the date for the April exam has been confirmed as April 06 to 20, 2019. Other than this, the National Testing Agency has also announced dates for JEE Main 2019 application form, admit card, and result.
JEE Main Application Forms will be available from September 01, 2018. JEE Main, from now onwards will be biannual (twice a year) and both the papers (Paper 1 and Paper 2) will be in online mode. After NTA has announced the final schedule of JEE Main 2019, it is now clear the JEE Main from 2019 onwards will be held in online mode only and twice a year. The syllabus, exam pattern, languages of the question papers and the exam fee will not change. JEE Main still remain compulsory for candidates who wish to appear in the JEE Advanced examination for admission in IITs. Admission to NITs, IIITs and CFTIs id based on the All India Rank (AIR) of JEE Main.
JEE Main 2019 Exam Date
NTA has recently announced new JEE Main 2019 schedule. The previous schedule was the tentative one. However, the final schedule does not have many new changes. The new dates which were not available previously are now available and the exam dates of JEE Main 2 (April) exam has been modified a bit. Aspiring candidates can appear in both the exams or in any one of them. There will be 8 sittings and candidates will be able to choose when (date) they wish to appear for the exam as per their choice.
What is changing in JEE Main 2019?
- JEE Main 2019 will be in online mode only.
- The exam will be held twice. First in January 2019 and then in April 2019.
- Both in January 2019 and April 2019, the exam will be in 8 sittings. Candidates will be able to select any one date for giving the exam.
- Candidates can appear in both the exams or in any one of the two exams.
- If you appear in both the exam, your best score will be used for ranking.
What remains unchanged in JEE Main 2019?
- The exam pattern is not changed.
- Most importantly, the syllabus remained the same.
- The language of the question paper remained the same.
- Also, the examination fee is the same.
JEE Main 2019 Eligibility Criteria
The applicants must ensure that they fulfill the eligibility criteria. The eligibility conditions for appearing in JEE Main 2019, for admission to NITS, IIITs, and other institutions, shall be different. There are few criteria on the basis of the which the eligibility of the candidate is determined. These are as follows:
- Date of Birth
- Appearance in Qualifying Examination
- Number of subjects in the Qualifying Examination
- Number of Attempts
Age Limit – The date of birth of the candidate should be on or after October 01, 1994. However, 05 years relaxation is given to the SC/ST/ PWD candidates.
Educational Qualification – The candidate must be appearing/appeared Class 12th or its equivalent examination from any recognised board. Also, the applicant should have studied at least five subjects in class 12th/qualifying examination in order to be eligible for JEE Main 2019.
Number of Attempts – The candidate can appear for JEE Main a total of 03 times consecutively.
JEE Main Application Form 2019
The application form for JEE Main 2019 will be available online only at nta.ac.in. The aspirants need to complete the application process for JEE Main in online mode only.
- Before filling the application form candidates need to register first.
- For this candidates need to enter their basic personal information.
- It is mandatory to provide Aadhaar Details.
- After the registration is done, the candidate can proceed to fill in details.
- Upload scanned images of photograph, signature.
- Next, pay the application fee.
Mode of payment: Online only, via Credit Card/ Debit Card/ Net Banking/ E-Challan.

JEE Main 2019 Exam Pattern
The exam pattern of Joint Entrance Examination (JEE Main) remains the same, it shall be as given below.
- Mode of Examination: NTA will conduct JEE Main in online mode only (Computer Based Test).
- Duration of the exam: 03 hours.
- Type of Questions: Objective Type / MCQ questions.
- The medium of Question Papers: The candidates will be given a choice in the medium of the question papers. The medium of examination in all test centres will be in English and Hindi Medium. However, for Centre Cities in Gujarat, Daman & Diu and Dadra and Nagar Haveli, the questions will be available in English, Hindi, and Gujarati.

Marking Scheme (Same for paper 1 and 2):
- For every correct answer, 04 marks will be given.
- Also, there shall be a negative marking of 01 marks for every incorrect answer.
- No marks will be deducted or awarded in case if the question is left unanswered.
