For the academic year 2021-22, the CBSE Board has announced the new and very special Assessment Scheme for Class 10th & 12th board exams.

According to the new Special Assessment criteria, student’s board examination will be taken into the two terms. The term I  exams of a duration of 90 minutes will be held in November-December 2021 and Term II will be held in March-April 2022 at exam centers.

After knowing about the new CBSE Exam patterns for board examination students and educators have shared their opinions and reactions on it.

Educators Opinions and Reviews

  • Ajay Choubey, the vice-principal of Rajkiya Pratibha Vikas Vidyalaya, Hari Nagar, New Delhi, has said that the board has taken the right decision as the COVID pandemic will impact the current academic year. He added that this is new for both teachers and students, but we believe it will benefit both. Since classes are expected to continue online, reducing and dividing the syllabus into two will provide flexibility and deeper understanding of concepts.
  • Swati Salunkhe, Mumbai-based student counselor stated that Students should take it up as a semester-based system which is followed in colleges. The exam pattern and paper checking procedure will also have some changes. Since the board has announced it in advance so the students and parents will have some relief this year.
  • Sindhura Narayana, managing director of the Narayana Group says that “The provision to upload internal assessment marks on the CBSE portal, if done in a timely manner, will allow for discrepancies in marking by various schools to be identified and rectified ahead of time. The only point of concern is the authenticity of exam results in the case of students attempting the term 1 and term 2 exams from home. Some form of proctoring will have to be envisaged to ensure that no malpractice occurs during the exam.”

Students Reactions and Reviews

  • Bodhita Gautam Mishra, 17 year old who will appear for board exams in 2022 says that dividing the syllabus into two parts is a positive direction in easing out students’ pressure. She also says that Now, it will give us more time to revise the syllabus for entrance exams. Earlier, we used to revise the whole class 12 syllabus for both boards and competitive exams.
  • Aayush Pratap, a class 12 student of the 2020-21 batch, says that the new scheme is much better than what they experienced as board aspirants amid the pandemic. Since colleges also follow a semester system, this will prepare students better for their upcoming educational life, Aayush Said.
