The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has started the first phase of its annual free psycho-social counselling services for Class 10 and 12 students from January 6, 2026. This initiative aims to help students cope with exam stress and maintain emotional well-being ahead of the board examinations.

The counselling services will continue till June 1, 2026. These services are designed to support students as they prepare for the CBSE theory examinations. The CBSE Board Exams 2026 will commence on February 17, 2026, according to an official statement.

CBSE 2026: 24x7 Toll-Free Helpline for Students
CBSE has made available a 24x7 toll-free Interactive Voice Response System (IVRS) helpline for students. The helpline number is 1800-11-8004. Students can call this number anytime, day or night, to get support.
The IVRS system provides round-the-clock support in both Hindi and English languages. Students don't have to wait for working hours to access help. The automated system is available throughout the day and night.
Through the IVRS helpline, students can access various types of support. This includes tips on stress-free exam preparation and guidance on time management. Students can also get help with stress management techniques. The system provides answers to frequently asked questions about board exams. Important CBSE-related contact information is also available through the helpline.
CBSE 2026: Tele-Counselling Services
In addition to the 24x7 IVRS helpline, CBSE has also arranged tele-counselling services for students. These services are available from 9:30 AM to 5:30 PM on all working days. Students and parents can interact with trained professionals during these hours.
CBSE has assembled a panel of 73 trained professionals to provide counselling support. This panel includes principals from CBSE-affiliated schools who understand student challenges. Trained counsellors are available to address emotional and mental health concerns. Special educators are part of the team to help students with learning difficulties. Qualified psychologists provide professional mental health support.
The counsellors are spread across different locations for wider reach. 61 counsellors are based in India to support students across the country. 12 counsellors are located in foreign countries including Nepal, Japan, Qatar, Oman, and the United Arab Emirates. This ensures that students studying in CBSE schools abroad also get support. All these professionals are providing their services voluntarily.
