CBSE Class 10, 12 Practical Exam 2026: Board Issues Important Guidelines for Students

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has released important guidelines for Class 10 and Class 12 practical examinations for the session 2025-26. The board has issued a reminder circular dated January 1, 2026, addressed to all CBSE-affiliated schools regarding the conduct of practical exams, projects, and internal assessments.

As per the official circular, the practical examinations for Class 10 and Class 12 are scheduled to start from January 1, 2026, and must be completed by February 14, 2026. Schools and students can check the complete guidelines on the official website cbse.gov.in.

CBSE Practical Exam 2026: Important Guidelines for Schools

CBSE has issued the following instructions for schools to ensure smooth conduct of practical examinations:

1. Practical Answer Books

Schools must ensure that sufficient practical answer books have been received before the scheduled exam dates. In case of any issue, schools should contact the concerned Regional Office immediately.

2. Inform Parents & Students

Schools should inform parents and students about the practical exam schedule. Students and parents must be aware of CBSE instructions and ensure strict compliance.

3. Infrastructure & Equipment

Schools must ensure that necessary arrangements like infrastructure, equipment, and materials are available in laboratories. All facilities should be adequately set up for students to perform their experiments.

4. External Examiners

Schools should contact the External Examiners appointed by CBSE well in time for smooth conduct of practical exams.

5. Arrangements for CWSN Students

Schools must make required arrangements for Children with Special Needs (CWSN) so they can participate in practical exams comfortably.

No Exemption for Sports Students

Students participating in sports at National or International level will not be given any exemption from appearing in practical exams. No separate practical exam will be conducted for them.

External Examiner Mandatory for Class 12

For Class 12, schools aren't authorized to make alternate arrangements for External Examiners. Practical exams can only be conducted by an External Examiner appointed by the Board. If any school conducts practical using a non-CBSE examiner, the assessment will be treated as null and void.

Time Frame for Practical Exams

All practical exams, projects, and internal assessments must be conducted between January 1, 2026, and February 14, 2026 only.

CBSE Practical Exam 2026: Warning for Schools

CBSE has warned that if schools don't comply with the board's directions, it reserves the right to cancel the practical examination. Schools must strictly follow all guidelines to avoid any issues.
